🌳 Green India Challenge Launches 9th Edition from Maharashtra!
On the occasion of BRS Working President Shri K.T. Rama Rao (KTR)’s 50th Birthday, the 9th edition of Green India Challenge will kick off on 24th July near the Godavari-Manjara river confluence in Dharmabad, Maharashtra.
Led by Green India Challenge Founder & former MP Shri Joginapally Santosh Kumar, the campaign aims to plant and nurture 99 Lakh (9.9 Million) native trees across the Godavari River Basin — one of the largest river-based ecological restoration drives in the region.
From Basar to Trimbakeshwar along the Godavari, and across Manjara & Pranahita basins, 50 Lakh volunteers will join this massive greening effort to:
• Combat rising temperatures (Marathwada saw +4°C this year)
• Reduce soil erosion
• Protect riverbanks & farmland
• Boost farmer incomes
• Restore biodiversity & moderate climate
A true people’s movement inspired by Telangana’s Haritha Haram, now expanding for a greener India!

“When the Jagadguru plants a tree, Dharma takes root.” 🙏

Deeply humbled to receive the blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji during the historic Sankusthapana of the Vedapatashala at Orvakallu.

His profound message reaffirmed that our Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and the Ramayana place Taru (trees) at the heart of Dharma. By personally planting Bilva, Kadamba and Peepal saplings, the Jagadguru reminded us that protecting nature is not merely an environmental responsibility—it is a sacred spiritual duty.

His words will remain with me forever:

“Nature knows how to heal itself. But before it does, humanity must heal the damage it has caused.”

I am truly grateful for His blessings upon the Green India Challenge and our mission of afforestation and ecological restoration. May every sapling we plant become an offering to Mother Earth and a legacy for future generations.

One of the most inspiring moments of our London Climate Action Week journey: visiting @icfs2023 ,the International Centre for Sustainability and meeting the remarkable @sachinnandha and his brilliant team.

Mesmerised by the breadth of their research from UK–India relations, environment & culture and a sustainable economy, to the future of faith, democracy, AI and preventative healthcare all bridging India & the West for people, planet & profit.

What moved me most: their work is rooted in India's timeless intellectual heritage,ex oriente lux, light from the East. And their focus on water as a national-security priority speaks directly to our mission at @ignitingmindsog .

Grateful for the warmth of Sachin and his team. This is the beginning of a meaningful friendship between two organisations who believe one truth: India and the world rise together.

Today, through the Green India Challenge, I have written to the Hyderabad Cricket Association proposing #GreenCricket a first-of-its-kind initiative to make TG20 the world’s first fully verified, climate-positive cricket league.

Every dot ball. Every four. Every six. = One Tree.

Not just planted—but geo-tagged, nurtured for 1,000 days, and transparently verified.

Inspired by the BCCI, Tata Green Dot Ball initiative and our “Playing for the Planet” vision presented at the House of Lords during London Climate Action Week, this proposal aims to transform every memorable moment on the cricket field into a lasting contribution to the Earth.

Telangana has produced cricketing legends. Now, let Telangana show the world how sport can become a force for climate leadership.

Together, let’s ensure that, every run scores for nature, every boundary grows a forest, and every match leaves behind a greener future.

planet

My heartfelt thanks to the distinguished parliamentarians, diplomats, councillors, researchers and climate leaders who stood together in support of this citizen-led model of environmental action.

The message from London was clear: climate action must be local, measurable, inclusive and driven by communities.

From Hyderabad to London and onward to the world, let us continue to build a greener future together.
