@Kimberl01520867 gave a great presentation this week in #Med6288 about access to health care in Canada's North. Now that midwifery is picking up speed in Newfoundland and Labrador, this would be a great service to implement in Nunatsiavut so women can stay at the comfort of home!
A couple years ago, @MemorialU agreed to incorporate a set amount of course work focusing on Indigenous health and cultural competency in medical programs such as nursing. I think this has definitely made a difference but there is still farther to go #Med6288
I think that an important way to positively change the way Indigenous Canadians experience our shared health care system is for us to consider that Western biomedicine isn't inherently the "right" way to to do healthcare. #Med6288#holistichealth
In reference to my last tweet, I think that we can work with what we have to create patient centered care as best as we can, for example, in the clinic setting. In my experience,
@NLSexualHealth
does a great job placing the clients as priority. #Med6288#Autonomy
Patient centered care is considered to be the ideal to improve health outcomes. However, I don't think that we can have this conversation without discussing the necessity for more health care professionals, such as nursing staff. #MoreFullTimeRNsCouldSaveALot

Hey #Med6288 class! Myself and @AsiaRaeLyn are looking to start recording our first podcast in the next week or so! We need somebody to recommend a random, non-health related topic for us to talk about and explore from a heath-curious perspective! Reply with suggestions!! :)
It's important to consider that taking a Health in All Policies approach will not be easy. There are a variety of different stakeholders that will have a multitude of different interests. #Med6288
If Canada implemented a Health in All Policies approach (@WHO), perhaps we could implement policies in workplaces to improve mental health int he workplace! #Med6288#MentalHealth
