On this day in 1924, Bill Greason was born.

After serving in World War II as one of the first Black Marines, Greason played for the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. In 1954, he made his Major League debut with the Cardinals, becoming the first Black pitcher in team history.

After his playing career ended, Greason became a minister in Birmingham, where he continued to preach through 2024.
