Shocked to read about the plan by the Speaker of Niger State to marry off 100 orphaned females as a result of banditry in the state . Rationale for this is to alleviate poverty, this move brought a lot of issues to fore; firstly the kind of people we have managed to put in leadership and the limit of their abilities to respond to issues of governance ; secondly the failure of government to understand how to respect and support sustainable rehabilitation and thirdly the inability of governments to take responsibility for welfare and security of the people, especially women . Women are not collateral damage and the 100 orphans do not deserve pity but efficient and effective response from government that can support comprehensive rehabilitation. Banditry thrived because government failed in her duty to protect his citizens, we call on government at the National to condemn this step, call on Nigerians to rise up to halt this illegality by the speaker of Niger state and call on the government to act in accordance with the state action plan on peace and security to rather invest in rehabilitation and recovery than subjecting more women to lives without dignity. Women and girls are not chattels, as Nigerians the ‘100 females’ deserve respect and positive action from government. #stopnigerspeakernow
Today is Valentine's Day.
While emotions run high, remember that NO means NO, non-consensual sexual relations is RAPE, and minors (persons under 18 years) are unable to give consent. #Valentine2024#bachelor#ValentinesDay
The state cannot continue to pretend that they don’t know what to do . They should act now !
In the name of religion, TB Joshua defrauded Nigerians , he was a criminal , fraudster, manipulator, exploiter built a mansion on foundation of lies.
Coming from chat discussion with my brother @RotimiSankore last night and sharing our views ‘organized religion has generally acted as ideological enforcers for Patriarchy, but the level of abuse/assault/exploitation described by so many vulnerable women is really alarming.
