“Men are 100% responsible for pregnancies,” says SC Sen. Katrina Shealy, R- Lexington, “Men are fertile 100% of the time. So it is time for men in this chamber- and the ones across that hall and all across the state of South Carolina- to take some ejaculation responsibility.”
I’m a mother of six, and a Mormon. I have a good understanding of arguments surrounding abortion, religious and otherwise. I've been listening to men grandstand about women's reproductive rights, and I'm convinced men actually have zero interest in stopping abortion. Here's why…
Now the poem that Amanda Gorman read at President Biden’s inauguration, entitled “The Hill We Climb,” has been banned from curriculum through 5th grade in Miami-Dade County, for not being suitable for elementary students.
For those who listened to the poem, you would know the the poem was a lecture on peace, love, unity, and freedom.
This is why laws banning critical race theory from schools are a problem. People begin categorizing anything that talks about race as falling into the realm of CRT. Or they use the law to justify removing books and curriculum that can teach real history.
This isn’t free speech. This is using the law to chill the free speech of others, in my opinion.
Former President Obama just summed up the Gun debate in under a minute:
"I think somehow — and there are a lot of historical reasons for this — gun ownership in this country became an ideological issue, and a partisan issue, in ways that it shouldn't be. It has become sort of a proxy for arguments about our culture wars, you know? Urban versus rural. Race is always an element in these issues. Issues of class and education, and so forth.
Instead of just taking a very practical approach, like we do, let's say, for example, with car safety, where we say, 'All right, we got a bunch of accidents. Let's have seat belts. And let's make cars safer. And let's engineer our roads so that we prevent them. Instead of thinking about it in a very pragmatic way, we end up really arguing about identity, and emotion, and all kinds of stuff that does not have to do with keeping our children safe."
I'd love to hear both sides of the political spectrum weigh in on this clip.
BREAKING: A video still of the shooters gun in the Texas mall shooting appears to be an AR-15-style rifle.
The SAME gun more than 30 law enforcement officers were AFRAID to confront in Uvalde that left 19 children dead.
The SAME gun that’s been
the weapon of choice in many of the most horrific mass shootings in recent memory, including the Covenant school shooting in Nashville just two weeks ago.
The SAME gun brandished by Republican radicals like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.
The SAME gun worn as a pin on the lapels of disgusting GOP lawmakers.
This is what we need to scream everywhere:
If 30 armed officers wearing full tactical gear with ballistic shields are too afraid to confront a single gunman with an AR-15, they SHOULD NOT be in the hands of civilians.
We have the answer. It’s the guns.
BAN ASSAULT RIFLES NOW.
You can’t go to work, to the mall, to the grocery store, to your church, to the movies or the bank.
You can’t attend a concert, go to a dance class or go to see your doctor.
You can’t check out a farmer’s market or mail something at the post office or go to a parade, and you certainly can’t send your kids to school without worrying that someone will get shot.
That someone you LOVE will get shot.
Or that YOU will get shot.
This is where we are now.
This is not normal.
And this is not fucking ok.
Dear Republicans:
- We don't care if the Louisville mass shooter was a Democrat.
- We don't care if the Nashville mass shooter was transgender.
- We don't care if the mass shooters used pronouns, or were gay or liked sausage on their pizza.
- We don't even care if the mass shooters wear boxers or brief, are educated or uneducated, are Trump supporters or Biden supporters.
ALL THAT WE CARE ABOUT is that they used semi-automatic rifles to murder innocent people, and these murders could have been STOPPED, while our ignorant politicians made a mockery out of it all!
BREAKING: Ten days after North Dakota Republicans voted against providing free lunch to hungry low-income students they pass legislation to give themselves free money to pay for their own meals — meaning they are literally taking food out of the mouths of children to save themselves a few bucks. RT IF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SHOULD BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE!
BREAKING: Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz brings down the house with a fiery anti-gun speech, says that Republicans are wasting time focused on "banning books" which is insane because "dead kids can't read" and we need to ban AR15s which aren't even used to "hunt deer" because after the bullets hit them "there's nothing left" and "there's nothing left of these kids" when they're murdered with assault weapons. RT IF YOU WANT ASSAULT WEAPONS BANNED!
Don’t tell me you’re a “patriot” or you “love America” if you think 40,000 thousand Americans a year killed by guns and innocent children slaughtered in their classrooms are just “the cost of freedom.” You’re not remotely “Christian” or “Pro-Life” either. You’re in a death cult.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
We must choose kids over guns.
NEWS: Censorship continues in Florida as "Ruby Bridges," a movie based on the true story of courageous 6-year-old Ruby Bridges who helped integrate segregated schools in 1960 New Orleans, has been removed from a Florida school after one parent complained it might teach white children to hate black children.
This comes right on the heels of complaints that Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis, is trying to eliminate AP African American studies from the state's schools, a charge he denies.
Yet, through his crusade against "wokeness," he has weaponized ill-informed parents against teaching a vital part of American history that must not be subject to censorship.
The subject of the movie, Ruby Bridges, is only 68 years old today -- a reminder that the dark past DeSantis is trying to obscure is not that far behind us.
Mass shooters don’t choose the AR-15 because it looks “cool.” They choose it, because they can kill upwards of 30 people before needing to reload.
On Sept 28th, 1982, 12 year old Mary Kellerman was hospitalized after being poisoned by a killer who laced a bottle of Tylenol that was on a store shelf, with cyanide. She died the next morning. A day later, six more would die from poisoned Tylenol.
By October 5th, Johnson & Johnson had issued a nationwide recall of 31 million bottles of Tylenol, and launched a massive advertising campaign to get people not to consume any of their products that contained acetaminophen (Tylenol)
The 1982 event inspired a rapid and radical shift in how certain products were sent out, quickly prompting manufacturers to start using tamperproof packaging. Untold lives have been saved in the years since.
The crisis management response by Johnson & Johnson is taught today as a model of corporate public relations and public safety.
These fucking shootings should be SIMPLE to fix. We KNOW how to rapidly bring about a massive reduction in school shootings and the senseless deaths of children and staff. We KNOW how.
It’s not happening, because organizations like the NRA spend millions upon millions of dollars to make sure GOP politicians do NOT allow those solutions to be implemented.
The NRA rewards the GOP for allowing our children to continue being slaughtered.
It’s NOT that we don’t know how to crush this. That, has never been the problem.
