@berkogal @jburnmurdoch Schools are a very big bubble, but reading this already made me think of 3-4 things we can realistically do to divide our school into smaller bubbles. We won’t reach the ideal but we can realistically severely limit interactions within the school.

@TashJoeZA @ElijahMhlanga It is merely a proposal that the department are considering. Working doc was circulated to some principals to identify possible issues with a phased reopening. Nothing has been decided or at least communicated. And it is depended on lockdown ending 30 April.

@SaintsMaths I don’t agree with everything in this book, but I still found it to be the most useful, practical and challenging book about teaching maths that I ever read. All maths teachers should read it at some point.

The more ways you can approach a problem the better you understand it. Our only policy is that we need to share the methods we teach so that we are all aware of each other’s methods even if we don’t use it.

@mathsjem In South Africa we teach completing the square as the basis of using the quadratic formula. It is a compulsory in our curriculum.

@PieterBergh You are right of course but add to that that the average tickets for interskole is R70 and you get 4 great matches and a whole show around it. It is literally a whole day out for the family.
