As I am sure you’ve seen in the newspaper, the great final battle of this campaign resulted in the Ohio State regiment — who disguise themselves as foliage — defeating the Notre Dame regiment — who believe themselves to be magical creatures, donned in green, and obsessed with coinage.

Final Rocky Creek Update: Highway 1 has reopened to thru traffic as of 7:10 pm after successful girder installation. Thanks to the crews who planned the work, shifted the schedule due to weather, inspected every project detail, and achieved this key construction milestone.

Trucks carrying nine concrete girders between 45 and 65 ft. in length continue with their journey along Highway 1 to Rocky Creek, 12 miles south of Carmel, where a full closure of the roadway is in effect until 10 PM, Sunday, December 15.

Due to forecasted high winds, Caltrans has moved the 24-hour full closure of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek from its previously announced start date of Friday, Dec. 13. Caltrans is now scheduled to fully close Highway 1 at Rocky Creek for 24 hours starting Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10 pm.

The Nacimiento-Fergusson Road has reopened to motorized travel. The road was severely impacted by winter storms following the 2020 Dolan Fire. We received vital funding through the Federal Highways Administration to repair 16 damaged sites. No overnight camping is allowed.

Highway 1 is closed from Limekiln State Park to Lucia where landslide repairs continue inside this perimeter established before this last round of storms. The estimated time of opening at Paul’s Slide is unknown and dependent upon rain over the next several weeks.
