@GregNortonSJ @joannakillen Thanks for the info! Last fall’s hurricane really changed now it looks down there. A woman was sitting up towards there when we were walking the dogs yesterday which made me think of the safety in the area on our beloved beach

Proud parent alert

Sadie’s idea for a lemonade stand stemmed into a fundraiser that ended up raising $770 for Romero House here in Saint John.

Truth be told, I knew very little about Romero House until today (other than the fact that Sadie and her friends chose it)

While bringing in the money and canned soup we collected in today, we got a tour and learned so much. On a slow day, they serve 300 people, on a busy day, so many more. They get no funding at all and completely rely on community donations and have done so for 41 years!!

Picture of Sadie and her good friend, and the amazing Evelyn who works so very hard to provide these resources (in fact she was headed off to do some painting around the building after we left). So many more of Sadie’s friends and their parents helped out at our event on Sunday

The women who was giving us the tour told us that it was her mother who started it all those years ago.

They are always looking for volunteers to help make and serve meals. Sadie now has her sights set on being a volunteer someday.
