Please preach the gospel you were called to preach. But stop using the pulpit to rewrite history.

You told your congregation that England's civilization began with the message of the cross, and that America got its buildings and infrastructure from its revivals.

Here is what you left out.

England had been Christian for more than a thousand years before its industrial boom. Ethiopia was Christian centuries before England. Faith alone does not explain the wealth. One can even argue that it had little to zero role in it.

In 1860, cotton made up more than 60% of American exports. Four million enslaved people picked it. On paper, those people were worth more than all the North's railroads and factories combined.

When Britain abolished slavery in 1833, it paid £20 million in compensation. The money went to the slave owners, not the enslaved, and it was about 40% of government spending that year. Britain only finished paying off the loan in 2015.

And the revivals? In 1845, Southern Baptists broke away from northern Baptists over slavery. Their own convention apologized for it 150 years later.

12.5 million Africans were forced onto slave ships. Nearly 2 million died before they reached land. They had names. Their blood is in those buildings.

People trust you. When you get history wrong from the pulpit, they go home believing it.

Teaching the truth takes nothing away from the gospel. But you cannot stand on the graves of millions and give all the credit to revival.

Do better.

I used to believe Christianity was only introduced to Africa to keep them mentally enslaved and extort money from them.

After seeing things for myself, I concluded Christianity was the foundation white men used to build and maintain order in their societies,

and they passed it to Africa to follow the same culture. Africa then took it, like everything else, and turned it the nightmare they have today.

I schooled in Onitsha High School, Onitsha. One morning, the principal Mrs Julie Ofoefuna informed us that Mr Peter Obi was coming to our school because the Senior Prefect called him and reported that the school building was at the verge of collapse which was true. We thought it was a joke because my school was one of the local schools then, we said” the governor has not finished visiting CKC, DMGS, St Charles, QRC”etc these are best schools then.
By 12:00pm that day, he landed with Dr Kay Onyechi the state commissioner of basic education, he inspected the school. He said he will return after two weeks. Two weeks passed we didn’t see him, we took his words as normal Nigeria politicians 😭😭😂.On the third week which was school closing period, he landed. He came like a thief, no motorcades or sirens blowing ” he apologized for coming after two weeks, he said when he learnt that the school was in exam period, he decided to wait but to come after exam. In the end, he gave more than enough for the school renovation. He asked us what we wanted for lunch, nobody could mention any reasonable food. He gave each student ₦100 for snacks.

I bought an Airtel outdoor router that can accommodate up to 32 devices. In February, my neighbour, who is a student, kept complaining about how much she spent on data, so I gave her my password so she could save some money.

My sister came over last night and couldn’t connect. I checked and realised the router was full.

There’s four flats in this compound,so I quietly asked the other flats what network they were using. Turns out, the neighbour I gave my password to had been charging both of them ₦12,500 each every month to use my Wi-Fi.

I don’t even know how to react to this 🤦‍♀️

Nigerian leaders will squander the chance to build world-class hospitals but do nothing then later go to other countries to seek healthcare from those nations who were not as stupid as them.
