@hettie_w_small@NobleF1 At the end of Bernie's tenure. The majority of conversation around F1 was neutral. In the Liberty era both positive and negative sentiment has doubled. But there are still 2 positive posts to every negative post.
F1's "toxic fan" problem isn't what you think
Our latest report (covered by @wearetherace ) analysed 100M+ posts and found:
Negative Content has DOUBLED since 2016
BUT so has positive content
Abu Dhabi 2021 is F1s most divisive moment

We’ve been keeping an eye on F1's online audience. We wanted to test whether our predictive insight from last September’s Report ‘Have We Reached Peak F1?’ was becoming a reality… Namely, if Max Verstappen's dominance at Red Bull would continue to turn off newer fans of the sport. Looking at data from the first two races this year we’ve seen a 40% decline in overall F1 conversation since the first two races of 2023, combined with a dramatic increase in negative mentions around the sport. Either by fluke or good judgement, it’s absolutely in line with what we predicted.

Thanks to @noblef1 for his insights in @Autosport on our 'Does F1 Need Drive to Survive?' white paper🔍. Social media's now leading F1's fan engagement race, outpacing Netflix's Drive to Survive.
Data shows TikTok & YouTube are now the key to drivers of new fans into the sport. #F1

@F1Grump@f1broadcasting@F1 That’s a good point we did think about that carefully so the data was taken from multiple social media sources not just Twitter :)
@f1broadcasting@Jontys_Corner@F1 Thanks for reading it! We do our best to put everything in context and measure apples with apples. If there are outside factors that have a universal effect we’ll mention that. I think you’ll find the next F1 reports interesting https://t.co/tEtZVcca02
@Jontys_Corner@f1broadcasting@F1 Not only just twitter data, also taking into account a wide range of other social data… admittedly blending in the advent of new sources and the decline of others is challenging.
@WarrenWhitlock@Wendall_Roy@Metamaterialtec With respect I don’t think this was overhyping, “spreading awareness” is the right terminology 👍🏼
