We had a visit from the wonderful Portals to the Past for an Egyptian day! We played Egyptian games, handled artefacts and even discovered the process of mumification! We learnt so much and we can't wait to find out even more about Ancient Egypt in the rest of our History topic!
This week, Y6 started a new topic in computing which focuses on understanding, using and creating spreadsheets. The children began to use spreadsheets and formulas to complete calculations. @BVCSchool
Year 2 are on their way to Flamborough. Weβre already discussing the human and physical geographical features we think weβll find! Weβll keep you updated throughout the day πποΈπ¦

F2 children have been exploring the Savannah this week. They have learned about all the animals that live there by watching a live feed of a waterhole in Kenya. They have also enjoyed role playing with the small world animals and painting a Savannah landscape. @BVCSchool
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and committed School Business Manager, who firmly believes that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can achieve excellent outcomes. If you would like further information, please visit our website: https://t.co/Yb5zw6A7Qg
Y5 visited Canklow Woods to practise map and compass reading skills. After exploring what contour lines represent on a map, they soon realised that as they are closer together, the hill is steeper! They also looked at the area to build on their work on the comparison of biomes.
The children in F2 are learning about the Arctic this week! They got to explore the ice tray and used words like 'freezing, icy, slippery and cold' to describe the feeling. Later, they used water-colours to paint the ice before it melted. @BVCSchool
This week our F1 children have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We have been working creatively to make our very own caterpillars. @BVCSchool
F2 are learning about sea creatures! Mrs Oram has set up an amazing sea themed sensory tray to help work on our fine motor skills. The children have already been asking questions! How can we keep our sea creatures safe? What can we do to help tackle sea pollution? @BVCSchool
F2 are learning about rainforests this week. The children felt how hot and wet the rainforest actually is with a sensory experience. Mrs Saddique sprayed them with some water and they took turns standing in the F2 greenhouse! Safe to say they dried up very quickly! So much fun!
