If you are within the ten-mile radius of Davis-Besse at noon today, you’ll hear a three-minute long siren tone. It’s a required check of the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) sirens. The sirens are intended to alert citizens during severe weather or for other community emergencies.
In addition to the sirens, Beaver, Hancock, and Columbiana County will activate electronic mass notification systems. Expect calls, texts, and emails to residents and transients in those areas. Go to the counties' websites to register for notifications.
Emergency sirens in the Beaver Valley Power Station 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) will be tested Thursday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. The test will be a steady 3-minute siren tone from the 118 Sirens within the zone. This test is performed as a federal requirement.
