You don’t have to walk away converted.
But if you walk away more curious than angry, that’s a win.
Because curiosity keeps us human.
Hard conversations, done well, teach us how to live with difference without losing connection.
We have kind of fallen out of practice of having hard conversations.
The Goal of a conversation is not to necessarily agree with each other. But to see how others see the world.
The problem is, we’ve confused disagreement with disrespect.
So we avoid hard topics.
But silence breeds assumptions. And assumptions build walls.
A good conversation can tear down a wall you didn’t know was there.
Two words that changed my life: Nobody cares. When you’re winning, nobody cares. When you’re losing, nobody cares. It doesn’t mean nobody loves you, it just means nobody cares about your life as much as you do. It just means that you are in control. It’s on you. Nobody cares.
