Clara Mattei brilliantly debunks a century of capitalist propaganda by explaining how capitalism is unnatural, has existed for only 0.1% of human history, took control of the world through violence, and is maintained by coercion and the superficial facade of liberal democracy.
This is a clip that is so on point it may be very uncomfortable for some to watch. However, the Chinese man featured in the clip is saying out loud what I have written about at length and many academics have articulated.
You’ll have to excuse the captions which struggles with his Chinese accent, but that doesn’t detract from the message.

@chrisbriem yes this project. why do you say it’s interesting? it’s certainly not surprising. WC flat out said they were only filing for the variance to tick the boxes - the denial is what they needed to re-open the 5thA case against IZ generally
@SweetG1951@chrisbriem@Serenade_az contrary to what you might believe, bad apples are to be found in every socioeconomic stratum. you can even find racist parochialism among the educated middle class. also segregation does not improve educational outcomes or do anything to mitigate poverty or its effects.
@DAMendelsohnNYC@agameganon leaving the hermeneutic questions about Homer’s intent aside, there’s no such thing as a translation that isn’t also an interpretation.
@positivityofx not sure how positive this is for either party - weasel likely pounced on the woodpecker to eat it, locked its jaws in the bird’s shoulder, and now both are stuck
“kids these days don’t know any real life skills.”
— the same generation of boomers that removed wood shop, auto shop, home economics, and finance classes from schools and replaced them with standardized testing
@humantransit@camhardy513 the people who need the discount are not the ones who have a choice about using public transit. the decision to be made is whether to continue living in new york city, not whether they should choose private versus public transportation.
@JaxFromTheFutur@chrisbriem the Oaklander was built on the Syria Mosque’s side lot - the Syria Mosque itself was razed and UPMC put a surface parking lot there “just temporarily” until they could think of a better use. why the new 2022 Oakland Plan specifically outlawed that practice. rage is still there.
I skimmed the first sentence and got really excited, like whoa who’s organizing it? like yo gil scott-heron got it wrong, who knew?? but then I read further and deflated.
We are announcing today that The American Revolution will stream for free in its entirety on all PBS platforms from May 25th through July 12. Hope you have a chance to watch, ideally with friends and family, as you think about our 250th anniversary this July 4th. https://t.co/c8fc6Sldj5
@Dan_Shaffer_17 honestly the holding costs and predevelopment costs are both reduced when condemned structures are demolished, so. doesn’t entirely matter, still worth doing?
read the whole thread but hey yeah here’s the money shot. literally. who knew, but finance incentivizes building housing for the top of the market, and if the top is climbing higher, affordability is increasingly out of reach for everyone else. go figure.
I get a bunch of tweets (or dunks) from Abundance Grifters, constantly auditioning for funding from developers or investors, who assert—often by pointing to a city or two in Texas—that deregulation is the key to making housing more affordable. Yet this recent San Francisco Fed study, released in February 2026, contradicts the abundance thesis. Because the study is a bit technical, I thought I’d break it down for you. 🧵
Researchers at EPFL proved your AI is lying to you.
Not sometimes. Most of the time.
They built one of the hardest hallucination tests ever made with Max Planck Institute. 950 questions. Four domains where being wrong actually hurts. Legal. Medical. Research. Coding.
Then they ran every top model on it.
The results.
GPT-5. Wrong 71.8% of the time.
Claude Opus 4.5. Wrong 60% of the time.
Gemini 3 Pro. Wrong 61.9% of the time.
DeepSeek Reasoner. Wrong 76.8% of the time.
These are the smartest AI models on Earth. The ones you trust with your career. Your health. Your money.
You think turning on web search fixes it.
It doesn't.
Claude Opus 4.5 with web search. Still wrong 30.2% of the time.
GPT-5.2 thinking with web search. Still wrong 38.2% of the time.
The internet attached. Still lying to you in 1 out of every 3 answers.
Now the part that should scare you.
Medical questions. The one place being wrong can kill you.
GPT-5 hallucinated 92.8% of the time on medical guidelines.
Claude Haiku 4.5 hallucinated 95.7% of the time.
Gemini 3 Flash hallucinated 89% of the time.
Nine out of ten medical answers from popular AI models. Wrong.
It gets worse.
The longer you talk to it, the more it lies.
Early mistakes cascade. The model starts citing its own earlier hallucinations as facts. Your third message is more wrong than your first.
The paper, in its own words: "hallucinations remain substantial even with web search."
This is what hundreds of millions of people are doing right now. Asking software that lies in the majority of its answers. About their health. About their job. About their legal case. About their code.
Most are not checking.
Most never will.
But please. Keep using ChatGPT for medical advice.
The doctors need a break.

Writing is thinking, exhibit one million. I tell students: you don’t have ideas you “just need to put into words.” You have vague subterranean inklings, and putting them into words is how you turn them into ideas. If you let AI do it, your own thoughts remain a squishy paste.
