MOTHER CALLS FOR KETAMINE TO BE RECLASSIFIED AS CLASS A DRUG AFTER DAUGHTER’S DEATH FROM FIVE-YEAR ADDICTION

Ann Moralee, a former nurse , has demanded that ketamine be upgraded to a Class A drug following the death of her 22-year-old daughter Isabelle “Izzy” Sapherson-Moralee.

Izzy, an estate agent from Wimborne in Dorset, began taking ketamine regularly during lockdown in 2020. She developed severe bladder damage, chronic pain and incontinence, spent £500 a month on pads and dropped to just 5st 9lb.

On 24 April 2025 Izzy discharged herself from hospital saying “No more hospitals mum, I can’t do it anymore.” She died two days later from respiratory depression caused by morphine and gabapentin toxicity.

At the inquest Ann told the coroner: “I have saved a lot of lives in my career but ultimately I couldn’t save my daughter.”

She is now calling for ketamine to be made a Class A drug to reflect its devastating impact on young people

Personally i think she is right, in-fact id go further and have harsher penalties on the people producing and deal the drugs.
