An advise from my experience
If you get diagnosed with any medical condition, please apply for PMB from your medical aid.
Sometimes you need more tests and scans which may lead to you going over limit of the normal allocation.
What does PMB help with, I'm going to use my current condition as an example
My medical option has a Co-payment for MRI perfumed outside hospital. Its around R4 000.
With my condition, I need an MRI scan before surgery and another one post surgery then one every 6 months to monitor the tumor growth. ๐ค
That's around R16K on co payments a year, so if you have applied for PMB, they will give you a code to use whenever going for scans and they will also advise you on the limits, sometimes your Dr, in my case the Neurosurgeon needs to motivate why I need more than 2 MRI scans in a year.
How is this going to help me in the long run, I am not going to exhaust my savings, GAP cover or cash on something that could have been avoided.
So if you have a medical condition, please ask your medical aid for PMB forms and fill them in to avoid going into debts unnecessarily.
๐ I learned the hard way, I hope my experience will assist you to make informed decisions.
I'm still figuring out most of the things but ill never commit the same mistakes I did before!
As consult to find a solution for our medical conditions, let us be smart and make wise decisions!

Two bogus doctors have been arrested over the sale of sick notes in KwaMashu.
Preliminary information suggests the syndicate has been operational for at least a decade.
On Monday, members of the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team set a trap for the pair.
It was discovered that a one-day sick note cost R100 while a three-day version cost R150.
Several replicated doctorโs notes were found on the premises at the Ithala Shopping Centre.
The names listed on the documents are real doctors, who allegedly suffered damages amounting to millions as a result of the scam.
The arrested men face charges of fraud and forgery and are due in court soon.
