The world is full of injustice.
Violence.
Heartbreak.
Come sit with the man of sorrows today.
The One who told us to turn the other cheek.
The One who, one day, will make everything right.
Woah! Koreans actually produced the first book using movable type. Even before Gutenberg. Learned something new and significant from Korean history. Also reminded that much of world history outside of Europe/America remains underappreciated in the West.
@AJWTheology One thing I did last year and loved was read through Jesus’ words and James, looking for their mom’s theological influence. Imagine the songs Mary sang over them!
@DZRishmawy@AJWTheology@zugzwanged I’ve led Advent this year as the slow start to the church year - preparation and waiting anticipation. Past, present, and 2nd coming. Prophets, Jesus’ birth, and (tomorrow) One Day. I love seeing brand new believers (and unbelievers) entering the story for the first time /2.
@DZRishmawy@AJWTheology@zugzwanged Thinking about @AJWTheology ‘s musing about Advent contextualization. In my unreached context we are mainly benefitting from the church calendar as a teaching tool. Laying the foundations for a new minority culture. So there are no “twee” passages. 1/
Listen. You’re sure to be gripped, perhaps confronted, challenged, even comforted by the God who sees you. The courage and depth with which @LisaVFields and @Joanna_Vitale approach this topic is simply outstanding. @jude3project https://t.co/YHnHFIMDvL
Reactions to these kind of tweets inevitably demonstrate commenters' cultural sub-groups. I mean, I live in the Middle East and regularly hear "Christianity is a western religion" SO... Good luck and God-speed, @JackieHillPerry !
@BeckyWhittles Hahahaha! I'll bring it up with her tomorrow and see what she thinks. My son has also created an "Animal Protectors" club at his school, so... somehow I raised animal lovers? 🤷🏽♀️
1/2 Great theology chat with my kids today: "Are there cats in heaven?" Talked about the difference between "heaven" and the new creation. What happens for sure when we die (didn't go into intermediate state theories #geekmom).
"The estates have everything to teach the wider church: we go not to give, but to learn.
"What if the fundamental human problem is about broken relationships and loneliness?
Many of the most successful fellowships on estates start with building community and relationships.
