पूज्य पिता के सहज सत्य पर, वार सुधाम, धरा, धन को,
चले राम, सीता भी उनके, पीछे चलीं गहन वन को।
उनके पीछे भी लक्ष्मण थे, कहा राम ने कि "तुम कहाँ?"
विनत वदन से उत्तर पाया—"तुम मेरे सर्वस्व जहाँ॥"

सीता बोलीं कि "ये पिता की, आज्ञा से सब छोड़ चले,
पर देवर, तुम त्यागी बनकर, क्यों घर से मुँह मोड़ चले?"
उत्तर मिला कि, "आर्य्ये, बरबस, बना न दो मुझको त्यागी,
आर्य-चरण-सेवा में समझो, मुझको भी अपना भागी॥"

"क्या कर्तव्य यही है भाई?" लक्ष्मण ने सिर झुका लिया,
"आर्य, आपके प्रति इन जन ने, कब कब क्या कर्तव्य किया?"
"प्यार किया है तुमने केवल!" सीता यह कह मुसकाईं,
किन्तु राम की उज्जवल आँखें, सफल सीप-सी भर आईं॥

चारुचं��्र की चंचल किरणें, खेल रहीं हैं जल थल में,
स्वच्छ चाँदनी बिछी हुई है अवनि और अम्बरतल में।
पुलक प्रकट करती है धरती, हरित तृणों की नोकों से,
मानों झीम रहे हैं तरु भी, मन्द पवन के झोंकों से॥

पंचवटी की छाया में है, सुन्दर पर्ण-कुटीर बना,
जिसके सम्मुख स्वच्छ शिला पर, धीर वीर निर्भीकमना,
जाग रहा यह कौन धनुर्धर, जब कि भुवन भर सोता है?
भोगी कुसुमायुध योगी-सा, बना दृष्टिगत होता है॥

किस व्रत में है व्रती वीर यह, निद्रा का यों त्याग किये,
राजभोग्य के योग्य विपिन में, बैठा आज विराग लिये।
बना हुआ है प्रहरी जिसका, उस कुटीर में क्या धन है,
जिसकी रक्षा में रत इसका, तन है, मन है, जीवन है!

मर्त्यलोक-मालिन्य मेटने, स्वामि-संग जो आई है,
तीन लोक की लक्ष्मी ने यह, कुटी आज अपनाई है।
वीर-वंश की लाज यही है, फिर क्यों वीर न हो प्रहरी,
विजन देश है निशा शेष है, निशाचरी माया ठहरी॥

कोई पास न रहने पर भी, जन-मन मौन नहीं रहता;
आप आपकी सुनता है वह, आप आपसे है कहता।
बीच-बीच मे इधर-उधर निज दृष्टि डालकर मोदमयी,
मन ही मन बातें करता है, धीर धनुर्धर नई नई-

क्या ही स्वच्छ चाँदनी है यह, है क्या ही निस्तब्ध निशा;
है स्वच्छन्द-सुमंद गंधवह, निरानंद है कौन दिशा?
��ंद नहीं, अब भी चलते हैं, नियति-नटी के कार्य-कलाप,
पर कितने एकान्त भाव से, कितने शांत और चुपचाप!

है बिखेर देती वसुंधरा, मोती, सबके सोने पर,
रवि बटोर लेता है उनको, सदा सवेरा होने पर।
और विरामदायिनी अपनी, संध्या को दे जाता है,

I grew up listening to great filmmakers and cinema critics that the only purpose of art is to provoke people into questioning their own beliefs and biases.

I also grew up listening that cinema reflects the reality of a society.

I was told that cinema must destroy old Gods and create new Gods.

It’s an unwritten law that when evil becomes too strong, its the artist’s dharma to expose it with his/her art.

Did I hear it wrong?

No. The thought is correct. But the people who say it are wrong people. They talk about free speech but practice censorship. They talk about secularism but practice ‘othering’ and communal hatred. They talk about human rights but support terrorists and Naxals. They talk about exposing the evil but cover up the truth of the evil.

I have come to realise that in modern times cinema has the power to do what media and politics can’t do. It can present uncomfortable reality, correct history, fight culture war and also become the soft power of a nation for larger interest.

In India, making such cinema is not easy. I tried it with ‘Buddha in A Traffic Jam’, ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’. I have been physically, professionally, socially and psychologically assaulted.

Even my forthcoming film ‘The Vaccine War’, a positive film, celebrating India’s greatest achievement, is constantly being attacked. Mostly by the same people who taught me all the above. When it releases, later this year, I can guarantee they will attack it with a new design because they don’t want India to succeed.

Because Truth must not be told.
Bharat must not be celebrated.

Recently, when in Kolkata I announced that my forthcoming 2024 film ‘The Delhi Files’ is about the Bengal Genocide of 1946/47/71 and how the same Khilafat ideology is responsible for constant communal conflict including the recent Delhi riots, I was attacked, abused and FIRs were filed against me. I was banned to sign my own books in a Kolkata mall.

It’s no exaggeration to say that my life is being made hell by the obvious lobbies and fundamentalists.

But in India, to pave the new way, to initiate Indic Renaissance and destroy old Gods is not for the weak hearted. You should be ready to sacrifice everything. Yes, everything.

To create a heaven for the future, you must stay in hell.

I believe, I was chosen by Maa Saraswati to become the medium and I surrendered myself to her. This has given me strength to fight hard-core fundamentalists and enemies of truth, justice and Dharma.

Dear Vipul Shah & @sudiptoSENtlm, @adah_sharma and team of #TheKeralaStory, first let me congratulate you for the brave effort. At the same time, let me also give you the bad news that from here on, your lives will not be the same. You will receive unimaginable hate. Your will feel suffocated. Many times you may get confused and demoralised.

But remember, God tests the shoulders on which he can put the responsibility of becoming the change agents.

If cinema is a medium to follow your course of Dharma, never stop. Let the community of Indic storytellers grow. Help new, young talented, Indic storytellers.

Let this Indic Renaissance become the guiding light of a New Bharat.

And whenever you feel nobody is understanding you, remember Gurudev’s lines: Ekla Chalo Re - एकला चलो रे - একলা চলো রে।
