@AtoniB @parthaskar The sliding scale would not have covered a meal with at least 70 carbs. It really saddens me. I know there is protocol but I know my child!
@AtoniB @parthaskar Wow 😮 Wtaf? Had this when boychild was in two years ago with DKA. He was 15yo. I gave insulin by pen with his food. Got told off but I said ok give it an hour and bloods went ok. If I hadn’t given him any insulin he would’ve been high and had to stay another night 😔
@parthaskar I’d love my son to get another pump but currently after almost 12 years dx (he was 4) and now in the dreaded teens - we get no pump or Libre as he’s being a s**t and they won’t approve. Lost DLA now and can’t afford it 😔
@parthaskar I am so sad that they can decide to ‘open’ for Christmas yet I have colleagues that couldn’t celebrate Eid, Diwali etc. Is Rona on annual leave for a few days? 🤦🏼♀️
@RU_T1DAware@parthaskar @AtoniB 🙌🏼 tbh I’m not sure if they will offer anything else if he’s not going to comply. I’m hoping it’s just a phase and he’ll come around but he shuts everyone out. My current moto is ‘tomorrow is another day...’
@AtoniB @parthaskar He wasn’t able to have a new one as he stopped using his current one properly. Hba1c gone up. Tried cgm, didn’t like it. All these things to help and he just refuses. I will try to take each day as it comes. Hoping he’ll see the light 💡 only 1 DKA in 11yrs, he needs a big shock
@AtoniB @parthaskar They have said we should transfer back to local services if he doesn’t want to engage. (We suspect he has PDA) definitely difficult due to Covid. We’ve been failed for years by schools too so he’s home Ed. Lots of rejection in his life. Thank you for responding 🤗
@AtoniB @parthaskar He’s not very good at wanting to talk. I’ve asked him so many times and he just doesn’t want to talk about it. We’ve just finished our four year pump and back to injections now via iPort. He doesn’t like to engage, he doesn’t like going to clinic. All we do it argue 😢
#DiabetesWeek
Did you know..
Indian physicians called it madhumeha (‘honey urine’) because it attracted ants.
The ancient Indian physician, Sushruta, and the surgeon Charaka (400–500 A.D.) were able to identify the two types, later to be named Type I and Type II diabetes
