@Etan_sun@redeemed_zoomer Scripture is useful and profitable. It equips the man of God.
But does that mean that the other elements mentioned—Holy Spirit, faith, proper interpretation etc—are thereby relegated to *can* help? What do you mean by “can”? They are optional? They only sometimes help?
@Etan_sun@redeemed_zoomer Jude 1:3: “once for all delivered to all the saints” means in 33AD when the entire depdivine revelation was given to the Apostles. If it just meant “the scriptures,” we’d have to discount the rest of Jude’s on letter, the rest of his books, and the Book of Revelation….
@Etan_sun@redeemed_zoomer It does not say Scripture equips the believer completely. It says it equips the man of God that he MAY be complete. I am “equipped” to drive a car if I have one. But I am not fully equipped if I do not have gas in the tank, a license, if I have not taken driving lessons, etc
Oslo Bishop Fredrik Hansen has begun preparations for the canonization cause for Sigrid Undset, the Norwegian novelist and Nobel laureate who converted to Catholicism in 1924.

@LizzieMarbach@CatholicDrip___ Again, I know you don’t believe in the dogma anyway for other reasons, but just saying that understanding the dogma does not *require* adopting this infinite regress, if we believe that God can act freely and miraculously
@LizzieMarbach@CatholicDrip___ I get that you don’t believe in the Immaculate Conception, but I don’t think that this logic absolutely demands that Mary’s mother, grandmother, etc also be sinless.
The supernatural intervention of God *at* the moment of her conception would have sufficed. No infinite regress.
Dostoevsky was one of the two or three greatest novelists of the nineteenth century. And he cared for nothing but Christ who had made him free. It is worth thinking about.
@CatholicAwesome I’m glad it worked!
I used to be anti-sleep training, until I almost sliced my hand open cutting a vegetable from sleep deprivation. We did it at 1 year old. It helped us so much.
@CalebCantu69327@AtheistTakes I almost miss the days of New Atheism lol. Glad it has gone out of fashion generally, but I have to say it did make me look deeper into the intellectual tradition of the faith way back as a teenager. For that I am grateful
@cConsontia@redeemed_zoomer Yes, we just believe that God preserved the Apostolic teachings in scripture and you believe that new ones get to be made up at the whim of people who claim authority to do so that isn't in scripture.
@Etan_sun@redeemed_zoomer …but I trust that you’re a lover of Jesus Christ, and you want to do right by him. So do I. May God bless you, and may the Holy Spirit guide us both.
