@breakfasttv No. My children are thriving at school right now. Remote learning is not the same at all. They need to be in person, with their friends. In person learning should be a priority - our children deserve it.
“We know there are kids right now at home with their abusers with no outs. Nobody to fend for them. No teacher. No coach. And we’re saying that’s ok.” Listen to this message from Dr. K. We have to do better for our kids. Enough is enough. @kwadwo777
Here's a CBC "fact check" a couple of days before Christmas saying Ford was full of shit calling for stricter border measures to keep out dangerous variants. It is now late April -- FOUR months later. https://t.co/7GVzjn0nGj
1. Ontario has prioritized pregnant individuals for #COVID19 vaccination (see below).
Really glad to see this happen - it's the right move.
(Expecting to hear further sign-up details from other Public Health Units shortly)
@TaliBogler *I think they mean "highest risk" below.
#Trudeau government first became aware that Canadians were being infected by virus from India in "the last day or so" says the Federal Transport Minister. Hmm. Dr Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer in #BC said they started seeing the #Indiavariant in #BC 2 months ago.
Cue the outrage! How many died because he didn’t do it sooner? Why is he flip flopping? Perhaps I’m wrong but I don’t think you’ll see this get the Ford treatment.
Drop everything and read this before you tweet about vaccines in Canada. @BogochIsaac gives a masterclass on the real issues, the bottlenecks, and the improvements possible.
Absolute clarity. Such a smart/educational thread.
Excellent thread on "vaccines in freezers" below. Kudos to @jm_mcgrath who did the work.
1. Supply comes in big batches, then drawn down. If none "in freezers" = huge problem
2. Unpredictability means: need a few days' worth. If shipment delayed, appts get cancelled. Disaster.
The Prime Minister of Canada today told us we'll have to wait for quite some time for COVID vaccines because they aren't manufactured here.
The Mexican government plans to start vaccinating in December.
Ontario has:
- most dense population
- most US truck traffic/border exposure
- biggest cities
- most diverse population (language barriers)
- biggest int'l airport/# of travellers
And still has lowest covid case rate outside Maritimes. Swing and a miss.
