🤔 What surgical treatments are available for osteosarcoma that has spread to the lungs? And are they effective?
Our new blog takes a look at a study that aims to answer these questions.

Each of us have an untapped renewable energy source that can change the world.
Adverse life events create massive energy. Its grip usually bolts us down - fearful, helpless, defeated.
I spent 3 hours yesterday with a unicorn - someone who has flipped the power of adversity to do good - Ann Graham, founder of a non-profit focused on pediatric cancer.
Here's why she is the rarest of the unicorns:
In 2010, Ann was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (OS)
Only 1000 cases of OS occur every year in the US.
It's nearly always found in people under 20. Ann was in her 40s and training for a marathon when she encountered unusual pain. Because OS is a kids' cancer, Ann was treated on the pediatric floor of her NYC hospital.
She discovered that OS treatment had not evolved in decades.
After her treatment, Ann began helping others with OS
Her compassion drove her to create "missions" for fellow patients, including fun experiences and inspirational support.
She worked to build awareness for pediatric cancers on Capitol Hill. She founded a new non-profit - @AgentsMIB (Make It Better Agents) - focused on osteosarcoma.
Many rare cancers like OS are "orphan diseases." Research is more scarce for such diseases because their scarcity make them less financially lucrative.
She has since continued to expand MIB Agents' impact
• Developing guides to help families navigate treatment
• Increasing pediatric cancer support in DC
• Starting a annual conference bringing together medical professionals, pharma companies, patients and their families
• Funding OS research directly through grants
How does she accomplish this? By harnessing her own experience
• A mom
• An OS patient
• A child of Hawaii
• Years of experience and connections in the hospitality industry
All of us encounter adversity, but how we respond is what matters
I met Ann for the first time less than a year ago.
But are deeply connected - born in the same year. Runners. Grew up in Hawaii. Our lives upended by osteosarcoma.
Ann both inspires and challenges me.
When I encounter adversity, what will I do to make this world better? What will you do?
