(Not that kind of weed) I am a faculty member in the @UF @UFEntomology @UFFortPierce working on the biological control of invasive plants. Opinions are my own.
Check out this grant opportunity from the Florida Invasive Species Council! Grant to support one (1) research grant for a student conducting studies related to invasive plants in Florida. Please RT! https://t.co/Yqrj7DTy7g
Dr. Minteer & PhD student @kellycrazbugs are currently in Brazil collecting biological control agents for Brazilian peppertree. Kelly was invited to give a guest lecture on her research at the Universidade Regional de Blumenau while she is there. #UFBugs#Minteerlab#UFBiocontrol
It is #InvasiveSpeciesAwarenessWeek! Interested in learning about invasive aquatics like zebra and Quagga mussels? Tune into a FREE webinar today at noon EST! https://t.co/alGfdVmCLY
It's National Invasive Species Awareness Week! Help protect our ecosystems. Plant natives! If you can't, make sure what you are planting is not considered an issue in your area. Our friends over at the UF/IFAS Assessment make that easy for Floridians! https://t.co/7aqaza3uSa.
PhD student @kellycrazbugs released Brazilian peppertree thrips into field plots this week to investigate combining biological control with herbicides. This has potential to provide long-term, effective control of Brazilian peppertree. #UFBiocontrol#UFBugs#UFIFAS
We need a "unicorn"? Someone who knows German, Latin, and is familiar with insect/ weevil terminology. Anyone out there with this (very) specific skill set?
Science Twitter, help! We have a weevil specimen that needs identification. We are working w/ a weevil specialist, but the key he needs to confirm (1928) is in German with descriptions in Latin. Tried translation software, but insect terminology does not translate well...
Check out "Going Native" to learn all about native plants from @UF_IFAS Extension Palm Beach County. Register for the webinars here: https://t.co/ebMN2sMPSj
@_Astro_Nerd_ I did. I had a great support system including advisor, mentors, family, and graduate student cohort. The department head made it a point to ensure students had a positive and supportive community on campus. I think that is key and I strive to provide that for my students.
Shout out to my crew! These people are hard working, still-smiling-after-7-hours-of-fieldwork in sweltering 101 heat index weather, and 💯 here for the #Minteerlab and @UFIFAS_IRREC team. I couldn't be more proud to be working alongside them! #UFBiocontrol#ufbugs
RT please!
Exciting postdoctoral scientist position is available in my lab at Cornell University to work on root biology, characterization of root system architecture, and genetic mechanisms of disease resistance in fruit trees.
