Food Safety in Action | Joint Inspections for Safer Food

As part of a special food safety enforcement drive, TG SAFE conducted joint inspections across 7 restaurants with 6 inspection teams to verify food hygiene, storage practices, labelling and overall food safety compliance.

🔎 During the inspections, officers observed: • Unclean cooking areas and equipment
• Unhygienic floor and food-preparation areas
• Improper cold-storage practices
• Unlabelled bulk ingredients
• Spoiled/unsafe food conditions
• Expired food items, labelling/display issues and pest-related concerns

TG SAFE teams conducted surprise inspections at 32 sweet and snack manufacturing plants in Hyderabad. One license was cancelled due to severe unsanitary conditions and stored ingredients. During these raids, 15 tonnes of adulterated food worth about Rs. 30 lakhs was seized and officials issued notices to several establishments.....

Food Safety officers inspected the central kitchen of M/s EatClub Brands Pvt. Ltd., supplying food to outlets operating under brands such as Box8 and MOJO Pizza.
Multiple violations were observed, including but not limited to:
- Poor sanitation and hygiene
- Improper storage of raw meat, eggs & veg/non-veg
products
- Inadequate temperature-controlled transportation
of food
- Multiple labelling violations on packed food products
- Cockroach, housefly & rodent infestation
- Synthetic food colors were found
- Breakfast sugar used in preparation of food articles
was found to be labelled as “Pharmaceutical Grade”
- Bare-hand food handling and unhygienic food
preparation
- Improper licensing categories and inadequate food
safety records

License has been suspended and Food articles found in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations were seized, license suspended and further action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

@cfs_telangana - Acting on a complaint received through the Food Safety Help Desk, Food Safety Officers inspected an unlicensed food establishment at Attapur, Hyderabad.

Serious violations observed included:
- Operational without FSSAI licence
- Reuse of blackened cooking oil
- Housefly infestation, poor sanitation & open
drainage and unhygienic food preparation
- Garbage near food preparation area
- No pest control measures
- Food handlers without protective gear

Action Taken:
~3,000 pani puris, 4 kg samosas and 2 kg of used cooking oil discarded in the interest of public health.

- Samples collected for laboratory analysis.
- Business operations stopped.
- Action under the FSS Act initiated.

@cfs_telangana - The Food Safety Department, Telangana has successfully registered 495 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Schools (residential school for girls) under the #EatRightSchool programme of FSSAI.

Eat Right Ambassadors have been trained to promote food safety, nutrition, hygiene, and healthy eating practices in schools.

@CFS_Telangana - Food Safety Officers inspected M/s Vennela Food Court, (Vennela Bakers and Chinese), Saroornagar on 27.07.2026.
Serious food safety and hygiene violations were observed, including:
- Operating without an FSSAI licence
- Prepared food kept near drains, on newspapers &
without proper wrapping/labelling
- Broken eggs used for preparation
- Poor personal hygiene of food handlers
- Unhygienic kitchen, washing area & greasy exhaust
- Lack of medical fitness & pest control records

Appropriate action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Food Business Operators are directed to maintain hygiene, obtain valid licences, and comply with food safety regulations to safeguard public health.

@CFS_TELANGANA - The Food Safety Department inspected M/s Sweekar Hotel, Kachiguda X Roads, Hyderabad, and found multiple serious food safety and hygiene violations.
- Fungal-contaminated cabbage, citrus canker in
lemons, and rotten tomatoes found.
- Boiled potatoes used without proper cleaning and
peeling.
- Poor sanitation, housefly infestation, and unhygienic
kitchen conditions.
- Prepared food stored uncovered and un-labelled in
refrigerators.
- Raw vegetables stored along with semi-prepared:
food (boiled noodles), posing a risk of cross-
contamination.
- Absence of FoSTaC-trained personnel and non-
maintenance of employee health, pest control, water
analysis, and used cooking oil disposal records.
- Seized New Classic Hakka Noodles (700 g) without
Batch number and nutritional information - under
Form III for violation of FSS (Labelling & Display)
Regulations.

Necessary action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

@CFS_Telangana - Flying Squad of Food Safety inspects @M/sGardenRestaurant, Secunderabad
The Food Safety Flying Squad inspected M/s Garden Restaurant, Secunderabad and observed serious hygiene and food safety violations including:
- housefly infestation,
- poor sanitation,
- uncovered and unlabelled food,
- cross-contamination risks,
- unhygienic refrigerators,
- improper storage practices, and
- absence of mandatory records such as pest control, food handlers' medical certificates and water analysis reports.

Necessary action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

@CFS_Telangana | Food Safety Officers inspected M/s Ashoksingh Foods, Karmanghat, Hyderabad.
· The establishment was found manufacturing Sev while holding a retailer registration obtained through Tatkal registration by declaring itself as a retailer instead of a manufacturer.
· Several food safety and hygiene violations were also observed
- suspected use of synthetic food colours,
- repeated use of cooking oil
- unsafe food handling and
- poor sanitation

Action taken:
· Samples of cooking oil and Sev were collected for analysis.
· 110 kg of Sev and 40 litres of cooking oil were seized under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Further action will be taken based on laboratory analysis.

Food Safety Department conducts Special Enforcement Drive on Suspected Adulterated Ghee
@CFS_Telanagna - The Food Safety Department conducted a two-phase special drive on ghee across Telangana, including an intensive drive in the Hyderabad CURE region with @hydcitypolice on 14 & 15 July.

During recent inspections in districts and Hyderabad, Food Safety Officers found instances where some licensed and unregulated establishments were suspected of selling ghee adulterated with vegetable fats like palm oil, vanaspati, coconut oil etc while the FSS Regulations suggests that ghee must contain at least 99.5% milk fat and not more than 0.5% moisture.
1) In districts:
🔹65 establishments inspected
🔹91 ghee/cream samples collected for analysis
🔹5 notices issued
1) Hyderabad CURE region
🔹 14 establishments inspected
🔹 15 ghee/cream samples collected for analysis
🔹 850 kg of suspected adulterated ghee/cream
seized
🔹 60 kg of suspected contaminated ghee/cream
discarded on the spot
Further action will be taken based on the laboratory analysis reports, as per the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Consumers - Is your ghee really pure?
Pure ghee should be prepared only from milk fat. Mixing vegetable fats such as vanaspati or palm oiland selling it as ghee is a violation of food safety standards.

@CFS_Telangana - Special Drive on Restaurants/ Hotels/ Dhabas: The Telangana Food Safety Department intensified inspections across the State to prevent seasonal food-borne diseases.

🔹Hotels/Restaurants with Improper Records: 40
🔹Samples Lifted: 62
Action taken:
🔹Notices issued for expired food, synthetic colours, poor hygiene, missing medical fitness certificates, lack of pest control records and licence violations. Synthetic food colours were seized during inspections.
🔹Food Business Operators have been directed to strictly comply with the Food Safety & Standards Act and Schedule-4 Hygiene Regulations to ensure safe food for consumers.

@CFS_Telangana - In the interest of public health, Telangana Food Safety Dept raided 2 dairy units in Sangareddy on 7th and 8th July 2026.

Key violations include:
🔹Misbranded dairy products (Keston Curd, Divya
Curds)
🔹Misleading claims/ ad (Keston Paneer)
🔹Expired laboratory reagents and chemicals being
used for food testing purposes.
🔹Poor hygiene and sanitation
🔹Inadequate record maintenance and traceability
🔹Improper storage and food safety practices
🔹Pest infestation and structural deficiencies

Action taken:
🔹Licenses of M/s. Saraswathi Dairy Products India
Pvt. Ltd., and Divya Enterprises, Sangareddy were
suspended following
serious violations detected during inspection.
🔹3,800 kg cream worth ₹9.22 lakh seized
🔹Samples of Milk, Curd and Paneer were collected
for laboratory analysis.
