Portishead Town Reserves are going up after a breathtaking 3-2 victory over champions Combe St Nicholas. An injury time winner from Jake Packham guaranteed the Reserves a top-three finish and promotion.
The afternoon started brightly when Lewis Wheatcroft coolly converted a first-half penalty to give posset the lead. However, the champions showed their quality, fighting back to level the scoring. Calum Townsend restored the lead, but a second equaliser from the visitors set up a nervy finale.
With the clock ticking into injury time, Townsend turned provider, released down the left wing he crossed into the box for Jake Packham to fire home, sparking scenes of joy.
Huge congratulations to the players and staff!

Tomorrow the Reserves play their final game of the season and it could not be bigger! A win would secure a top 3 finish and promotion - but it’s not going to be easy, as our opponents are champions Combe St Nicholas.
Please get down to Bristol Road to support the lads - it’s a 3pm kick-off.

@Jack_Moore7 Jones is no world beater, but right now he offers more. It’s painful watching Mac hang a lazy leg out and the opposition walk past him. On the ball he’s been dreadful too. I’d say if Jones has the game time those 2 have had he’d consistently perform better than they have
@LFCLaurie Agreed. He’s too safe to be a match winner, you pay that money for players who are going to grab the game by the scruff and produce magic. He’s neat and tidy on the ball but not much more than that, and at times looks like a little boy against men.
The Reserves claimed all 3 points after an impressive display on the road. The posset goals came from Chris Wright x 4,
Jared Ford x 2 and Joe Fitzgerald.
They remain top of the table!

@A_GymGuy Sorry what I meant was we need wingers that have the ability to do that, not do it every time. But be unpredictable, comfortable cutting in or going down the outside. You know any time CG or MS have the ball 99/100 they’re cutting inside.
