5 June 1928 | Jewish man, Jan (Janos) Blumenstein, was born in Nové Zámky (then Czechoslovakia, today Slovakia, between 1938-45 in Hungary).

In the historical photo, he is on the left with his mother Theresa, and older brother Robi.

He was deported to #Auschwitz on his 16th birthday in 1944 with his brother, father, and stepmother. He was the only one who was registered in the camp after the selection.
Camp no. B-6164.
After the evacuation of Auschwitz, he ended up in Gunskirchen. He survived.

At the age of 18, he was brought to Canada by the Canadian Jewish Congress together with 1000 other Jewish children orphaned during the Holocaust.

He has four children and seven grandchildren.

He has just turned 96. Happy birthday!
