I am pretty disgusted with the startup industry.
It seems to be evolving into a series of companies making products with a sole purpose:
Put a human out of a specific job.
In past eras, the missions of startups were so grand:
- Connect the entire world
- Online store with endless shelf space
- Global access to all information
And now it is: "how can we have AI do X job, and then we get all the money".
Overall, this is inevitable. It cannot be stopped.
Capitalism forces it, we all worship at the alter and it dictates the products we build.
And I am not immune either. My company indirectly contributes. A year ago, some of our users would spend $10ks on a service that we now provide for 10x cheaper.
The problem is when every company's sole mission becomes displacing jobs.
Every single job category is going to hate this. The only winners are the tech industry.
And that's a pretty sad world tbh.
