STRK Staking V2 official vote starts today at 4 PM UTC 🫵

This Staking V2 upgrade is crucial, as it transitions validators from running full nodes and monitoring the network to also sending block attestations. The main goal is to evaluate their liveness before they take on a role that impacts Starknet’s consensus (planned by the end of 2025).

Additionally, this proposal introduces a new transparent commission adjustment feature to improve economic incentives.

As an important upgrade, @StarkWareLtd needs the input of the community before incorporating these changes on Testnet in the coming weeks and on Mainnet in Q2 2025.

To participate, before the vote starts, you must either:
- Wrap your STRK into vSTRK and delegate/self-delegate your voting power on the governance hub (details below). This keeps your STRK liquid, as you can unwrap it at any time.
> Stake your STRK (as a Validator or Delegator), which locks your STRK. To unstake, you will need to wait for a 21-day unlock period.

If you don’t complete one of these actions before the vote starts at 4 PM UTC, you won’t be able to participate.

The first phase of STRK staking is launching on Mainnet in about a week!

To help you prepare for this milestone, here are a few key points to keep in mind:

> Although the public launch is scheduled for November 26, the STRK staking contract will be deployed on Mainnet 30 hours to 2 days earlier to allow our partners to integrate with it.

> If you're interested in becoming a validator, check out the Validator guide: https://t.co/z4p0bSIDsq

> Anyone can become a Validator by meeting the following requirements: a minimum of 20,000 STRK tokens and running a full node.
> Anyone can also become a Delegator with no requirements other than choosing a Validator to delegate to.

> There is a 21-day lockup period (for both Validator and Delegator) before you can withdraw your staked funds.

> Here are the expected STRK staking metrics at launch

> This launch is only Phase 1 of STRK staking. It’s an introductory phase designed for learning and gradual adoption, with the ultimate goal of transforming Starknet into a fully decentralized PoS network over time. Here’s our plan to achieve that:

STRK staking launch on Mainnet: November 26th.

After extensive testing on Sepolia, we are now ready to introduce the first phase of STRK staking on Starknet Mainnet. Everyone will be able to participate by:
> Becoming a Validator: This will require a minimum stake of 20,000 STRK and operating a full node.
> Becoming a Delegator: You will simply need to choose a validator from the available list and hold STRK tokens.

Note that both validators and delegators will be subject to a 21-day unstaking lockup period.
