Wow, what a morning (and spilling into the afternoon) of responding to all the amazing messages, posts, and even personalized e-mails from all over the world! Even in the midst of a global pandemic, we may be separated, but not alone or forgotten 🥰 #birthday
@JRUrbaneNetwork That’s the power of P3 projects. I think we need to go back to traditional delivery methods and proper accountable engineering. This is ridiculous.
@PolesWires Right, we need to build more subways. Using traditional delivery methods, like we’re used at the END of the Vaughan extension when Bechtel came in and slammed it a home run and walked away with their money as agreed.
@bconnolly00 No kidding the thing shuts down for cold and snow, and it shuts down for heat too.
Did someone install a European design in Toronto or something? It’s only been this kind of climate and weather hundreds of years here…
Happy 19th to the video that started it all... 🎉🎂
The first episode of "Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?" uploaded #OnThisDay in 2007.

@DimitrisSoudas I don’t understand how people can’t see, that 24 Sussex is our 10 Downing, or 1600 Pennsylvania.
We really need to have treated it as such, but have consistently failed to do so to the point it’s gotten to today.
@CanadaLoyalist I’d argue that we need to bring back crown corporations to run these. Greyhound pulling out of Canada and leaving the intercity bus network in shambles should’ve been a warning call. Ontario Northland has picked up a lot of the slack, but there’s no nationwide system.
@Megannety@GrandpaKen05 Agreed. We just need to do it.
Jean Chrétien has a video where he talks about someone (I think the US President) visiting him, and he turned on the window air conditioning because the visitor was looking warm. “And that was the air conditioning of the president of Canada!”
@realblueapple@GrandpaKen05 This is Canada… you don’t take the kings land… that would be an act of high treason.
Did you forget for a moment that the Governor General is actually a higher rank than the Prime Minister and represents His Majesty in Canada?
Or do you still need to take grade 10 civics?
@GrandpaKen05@RB37884520 For real, and the CBC can manage the advertising as funding for it too. Use as much Canadian content and showcase Canadian manufacturing end to end from the cement mortar to repair the stone foundation to the shingles on the roof. If we’re lucky, maybe even some tech!
@MD1840487@KashPrime The builders didn’t leave Canada… they’re part of modern day AECON. Which, did not get sold to the CCCC and remains a Canadian company.
@KashPrime@pstreetski Confederation bridge is not a novel engineering achievement?
It’s a bridge across a section of the ocean that has to deal with incredible ice flows and adverse weather. It’s a monument to the Canadian perseverance of “we can live here” even when nature itself says we shouldn’t.
@Elect_Elliott@MarkJCarney That just sounds like you’d expect the British Government to sell off 10 Downing Street too.
Or the United States to sell off the White House.
The official residence is a symbol of our federation, that we should be able to have our elected leader greet other world leaders in.
🎉 Tonight, the celebration lights up the skyline. 🎉
In honour of 50 incredible years, the CN Tower will shine like never before, with a special light show featuring swirling colours climbing the Tower, illuminating Toronto all night long. 🌈
@RailroadRaccoon They’ve already proven that they have no issue using public funds to benefit themselves and still shafting VIA.
You’re saying that we should trust the bully with our lunch money a second time willingly?
@RailroadRaccoon Because it’s already been done, and then CN found more excuses 😂
They basically took the money VIA spent on upgrading their infrastructure years ago and now they run their freight trains on it making record profits!
US FRA is not Canadian CROR. There’s a difference.
@airwreck333@jokerkinnie7 Yep, and so is Toronto now that the feds and the provincial government arr paying attention to the shitshow that it is. The city literally floods the rivers and lakes with actual shit every time it rains.
That’s just the start of the Infrasturcture problems.
