@greninjahyyh@changedolls@kncklevlvt@readingwithbeth It does give benefits bc publishers count library check outs when they look at how popular an author is to decide if they should buy another book from them, pirating gets authors book deals cancelled bc it looks like no one wants their books
@emmasbooktwt@AliceBreckwith Not disagreeing, just saying stealing from people trying to make ends meet is wrong and there's a lot of free books available to every at all times, but that's just me
@emmasbooktwt@AliceBreckwith That's not saying you don't have the right to read, you're not entitled to whatever book when you want it on demand by stealing that's not infringing on your right to read, bc it is a desire not a right to steal what you want bc you think you deserve to have it
@emmasbooktwt@AliceBreckwith And they didn't say you don't have the right to read they said you shouldn't steal, and you have to at least admit it's very entitled to think you stealing is more important than their livelihood, but they didn't say you don't have the right to read
@lastolympiqn You do have the right to read, but your not entitled to whatever you want when you want it because the author who wrote it and is already being underpaid also has the right to be paid for their work
@AliceBreckwith@emmasbooktwt Bc there's thing crazy thing called cost of living where people need money to live and they work to get paid so they can pay rent and buy food and if im understanding correctly people like being able to do that
@SoNotFeelingIt@aipriverses Bc they think they're entitled to the newest booktok popular book of the week rather than read something more than a year old
@goatedmire@AMERlCANREQUlEM She said she left bc of pay disbut then other people said she was allegedly hard to work with which tbh Hollywood usually means she's a woman who stood up for herself so we're going to say she's a b!tch so she doesn't get work
@caretonolamedia "Point still stands "when you were wrong, and frankly if she spent all her time talking about powerless people would complain about that too
@rainbowroadvet@kcrlfs Tbh even having dozens of best sellers doesn't mean they're making good money, authors make the absolute bare minimum from their work and thats if the publishers actually regularly pay them which a lot don't it's really only 1% of authors who are well off
