@elonmusk I’m a federal employee, let me help you out with your efficiency review. I’m one of those woke Marxists who adheres to the “trans agenda”. I am not loyal to you or the Trump Administration.
@jnikkilewis@cfuchstv Also, I think when any of the appealing elements of the film are amplified in an honest way. I think of genre pieces. A grotesque and gratuitous version of this is Death Wish 2. Whereas a film like John Wick 2 offers up a sort of overcharged version of the first
@jnikkilewis@cfuchstv A lot of great sequels referenced here, although I can't back Matrix Reloaded lol But when the core elements of the story/characters are expanded and enhanced sequels can be a wonderful thing
@cfuchstv (1/13) Plot isn’t only unnecessary, but it’s often cumbersome and filmmakers may be better off without it. This thread will talk about some of the great films that ignored plot and created unparalleled emotional experiences. #399Sum21
@perseqhones @cfuchstv Thank you for giving me a new pov on this film. I originally admired the film for toying with the established horror tropes and how the genre uses women characters. This analysis redirects my thinking a little which is exciting. I will rewatch this movie asap, great post!
@mrosstb@cfuchstv Damien Chazelle is one of the most exciting filmmakers around. I hadn't thought about how he uses this one on one close up eye matching shots. All of his films are brilliant, I will gladly rewatch with your observations in mind. Which film is your favorite of his?
@DaijaSykes@cfuchstv It's silly but as a kid I thought NBA players were immortal, I was so happy to see him come out because it opens the door for the necessary dialogue on mental health.
@Mixer1416@cfuchstv And it is too bad about the 1926 version, although it wasn't well received I am interested in seeing it as a curiosity more than anything.
@Mixer1416@cfuchstv One of my favorite novels and for all the film's beauty it truly captures the devastation of the characters, something I think Baz Luhrmann is accomplished at. A film gets no credit by a filmmaker who doesn't get enough credit. So glad to see this movie get some love!
(13/13) These films create genuine human experiences through innovative visual storytelling and engrossing sound and production design. Anxiety insecurity, relief, curiosity, and adrenaline. Nothing is analyzed and the only relevant understanding lies in what is felt.
(12/13) The Shining (1980) reaches a similar height as the details of Jack’s possession and the Overlook Hotel itself take a backseat to the gradually suffocating oppression of the film.
