I’ve actually been to this plant. A few times, though it’s been about 6 years. Somehow I doubt it was really under threat to close, maybe. I saw they had a bunch of layoffs in 2024.
🚨 EPIC! Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) just WALKED OUT on stage with President Trump and dropped this line:
"One day I got a call from the plant manager from Kenworth and they said our plant's in TROUBLE...they're assembling trucks in Mexico, undermining our plant...if we don't get a good deal, our plant closes and those jobs go away!"
"I called the president...HE SAVED THE PLANT, and added a THOUSAND JOBS right here in Chillicothe!"
"Mr. President, you have not let Ohio down. Ohio will NOT LET YOU DOWN. We will win on Tuesday, won't we, folks? Let's go get them!" 🔥🔥
That is what having a Republican Senator with a DIRECT line to President Trump actually looks like. One phone call, PLANT SAVED
Do not elect Sherrod Brown under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Ohio would be cooked.
President Trump and Jon Husted actually saved the jobs — return the favor and VOTE RED!
@SoxNerd They already have their Podsednik in Hamilton, an exuberant character named Uribe, their catcher causes controversy all the time, franchise staple in Yelich like Konerko.
I like the similarities between them.

I’ve had this weight on me for a while and felt the need to share it once and for all.
Years ago, the CEO and co-founder of Semafor, a media publication, approached me. He presumably wanted me to consider investing, because he spent a significant amount of time boasting about all of his supplemental sources of revenue.
I was stunned when he bragged about getting an enormous amount of money from the government of Qatar. The pretense was that he was receiving these funds to “train journalists.” I don’t recall the precise amounts, but recall that he acknowledged that the cost to conduct this “training” was a tiny fraction of what he was getting paid - directionally it was something like getting paid $2mm to conduct a “media training” boot camp that would cost Semafor $50,000 to execute. I pointed out that it sounded like he was being bribed - that nobody with proper intentions would offer to pay something that was 20-100X off market - and no entity pretending to be a journalism outfit should accept stuff like that, as it would compromise him.
He insisted that wouldn’t happen. But over the course of many years, I’ve observed how Semafor continues to receive government sponsorships and perform all sorts of “trainings” and “conferences” in partnership with Qatar, while providing very complementary coverage to the government of Qatar. This is downright unethical - and particularly unbecoming of an outfit pretending to be “training journalists”! The problem doesn’t end with Semafor.
The government of Qatar has been buying off media, education and other groups, with reports of how it deployed billions of dollars in the US higher education system. All of us who care about ethics should demand an investigation into these practices. Regardless of whether legal authorities choose to look into this, we as the people and the consumers should admonish such egregious behavior and ensure we avoid “media” publications that are so compromised.
Countless journalists risk their lives every day to expose abuses in power. Semafor does a disservice to the profession by undermining trust.

FACT: Katie Hobbs used leftover COVID relief money to buy old medical debt for pennies on the dollar, then required the nonprofit to put her approved branding on the letters and feed her personal stories from recipients.
This is the definition of a publicity stunt timed for an election.
Watching the Shelly Beattie doc by @MarleeMatlin and it’s heartbreaking so far.
There are so many things that both of them went through as a hard-of-hearing kid that I connected with, but nowhere near as bad. A lot of Shelly’s words echoed some of my own thoughts.
My parents are not perfect, but they put in a ton of efforts when, after 3 years the doctors of not believing my parents, they confirmed I was deaf. Speech therapy, learning sign language, they went all out. I’m grateful for that because it’s been SHOCKING to hear how many parents just don’t care or refuse to learn sign language.
SNL made jokes about Putin taking Crimea in 2014. That's how serious it was.
Obama refused to give Ukrainians weapons to defend themselves, but he was just so cool and that's all that mattered back then.

What a great conversation. Friedman does a fantastic job explaining the nuances of life that can’t be ignored and regulated away.
I also find it funny he said “I believe you’re free to smoke, just think you’re a fool for it” cause when I was 17 I asked my mom what she would do if she caught me smoking cigarettes, even though I knew darn well she knew I was, and she said “you can do whatever you want but you’re an idiot” lol yeah she was right
I’m not sure how much longer Steve Stone wants to announce, but they have to find a play by play person who has some type of chemistry with him in the booth. I felt like him and Schriffen never worked well together.
