Mr. Rogers, who studied for seminary before going into children’s TV, signed off every show with the words, “You've made this day a special day by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are."He looked straight at the camera when he said those words.
One of his videographers had been a wounded and angry man. He felt unloved by his dad, and by God. And one day, filming those final words, a ray of grace broke through. He pulled Mr Rogers aside and said, “You know, when you said that today to the kids, I felt like you were talking to me.”
Mr. Rogers said, “I’ve been saying that line directly, specifically to YOU for the past two years.”
It’s easy to listen to scripture and think God is talking to someone else. He’s not. He’s talking to YOU. Looking at YOU. Telling YOU that one thing we never grow past needing to hear: I love you. You are my son. You are my daughter. Just because you are you.

I have stared at this photograph more times than I can count over the past few days. Every time, I look at the man in the white cassock and say, with gut instinct and intellectual certainty both, Tu es Petrus.
You are Peter, and upon this rock Christ builds the Church.
Catholics believe the pope is the vicar of Christ, the Successor of Peter who acts and ministers in Jesus’s name.
With every passing day, this 71-year-old American, born Robert Francis Prevost, reminds me of Jesus. Then again, I guess that’s the point.
Six young men with Down syndrome served at Pope Leo XIV’s Mass in Paris after personally requesting the opportunity.
This sent a message to France.
96% of babies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome in the French regions are reportedly aborted.
People with Down syndrome are not mistakes. They are gifts from God, created with purpose and infinite dignity.
When I was born, Pius XII had just six weeks left in his pontificate. I have lived through some remarkable popes. John Paul II seemed transformational, though time complicated that judgment. Then came Leo XIV. Since the conclave elected him in 2025, he has astonished me. I will not call him a rock star. That diminishes the office and misses his gift. His connection with people feels profound. Immediate. Human. He recalls the power and majesty of the Church I knew as a kid when I was taught by magnificent nuns in parochial school. I have never seen anything like him. There is hope for the Church. And does the world need it more than ever.
Yeah, we lost tonight. But I saw a team that didn't quit.
It’s only Week 3 of the Lane Kiffin era. We’re just getting started.
We may have lost the battle tonight, but the war is far from over.
We’re coming. #ForeverLSU
