Being the lead organizer of this conference has been a highlight of my academic career!
This bilingual conference covers historical topics from all around the world!
I am so grateful for the support of my peers and the professors in the history department!
See you there!
The US banned Hawaiian language, overthrew our country, let us die in Maui fires, devastated our universal healthcare, & illegally occupies Hawaii to this day. My mother's hands were broken for speaking Hawaiian in school. The US is not a beacon, but the destroyer of independence
Vague blanket statements claiming “hate has no home here”mean very little. Our community has a long-standing problem of failing to effectively condemn, challenge, and eradicate white supremacist violence.
A tale of two disasters: Missing #Titanic sub captivates the world days after deadly migrant shipwreck https://t.co/EhSVj7eAtu by @chantaladasilva via @nbcnews@sunderland_jude: "The willingness to allow certain people to die while every effort is made to save others ... it’s a, you know, really dark reflection on humanity."
I wish more folks understood healthcare isn't just about doctors and hospitals, it's about the policies and systems that shape our communities. Affordable housing, access to healthy food, and quality education are all critical components of a healthy society.
It's my birthday! If you're in a giving mood, please make a donation today to Devon Fowlin

I wish more folks understood that the academic performance of kids in low-income communities is not a reflection of bad parenting, but rather a reflection of the structural barriers and inequities that these families face every day.
I wish more folks knew the term 'social murder', coined by Friedrich Engels to describe how societal structures created by the ruling class can lead to the premature deaths of individuals. It's a reminder that policy choices have life or death consequences.
So let me get this straight: The City of Toronto was ok with the Toronto Police using $337,000 of our tax dollars to create a podcast barely anyone listened to...but wasn't ok using $400,000 to fund a 24/7 warming centre to prevent hypothermia & death?
Where are our priorities?

For those of you who think privatizing healthcare is not a bad idea , my 70 year old aunt fell down and broke her femur in the u.s. 10 days and a surgery later , her hospital bill is $257,000 . And you think a few cents cut in your taxes can ever help you afford this?
