GM FAM I was studying @idOS_network app onboarding process and I was stunned. Okay, when you scan your face, you confirm are a live human and not a bot or fake Then this image gets encrypted on your device and sent over a protected connection to a super-secure AWS Nitro Enclave. This AWS Nitro Enclave is a locked down virtual machine that is isolated from the internet with no way for anyone to access it making it very secured. That means that even @idOS_network team can't access our raw picture. Now inside this Enclave, before any matching takes place, the picture is first processed using facial recognition algorithms. It extracts key features from your face like the distance between your eyes, nose shape, or the shape of your jaw and then convert them mathematically into a simple string of number which are irreversible. This is the FaceVector It's actually like a face fingerprint, but it doesn't contain any actual image pixels or templates of your face that can be reversed to a photo. Your face is now viewed as a high dimensional vector like [0.23, -1.45, 0.89]. This is used solely for a one time de duplication check against existing profiles in @idOS_network which helps prevents multiple accounts per person except you get a face surgery to alter your face 😂 If your face checks out, you are given a Proof of Person (PoP) Credentials which contains your Face Sign User Id. Your credentials are encrypted and stored under your control in the @idOS_network a Layer 1 Blockchain. No pictures are stored and only those credentials containing your User Id proves that you are a human. You give access to apps to read it only when you want and when they read it, they only see the unique strings of numbers. idOS network is fascinating and they took privacy very seriously.
