🌟 When humanity leads, governance makes a difference!

A heartwarming example of compassionate administration has emerged from Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, where IAS officer Sudhir Kochar turned a distressing situation into a lesson in accountability.

🌙 During a late-night surprise inspection at the district hospital, Collector Kochar discovered that the rain basera (night shelter), meant for patients’ attendants, had been wrongfully locked.

A young man, whose relative was hospitalised, broke down while narrating how he had been forced out into the cold.

❤️ What happened next deserves attention.

Instead of ignoring his distress, the Collector publicly apologised, saying:

“We apologise to you. I am responsible for this situation.”

⚡ He immediately called the Chief Municipal Officer and other senior officials, got the shelter reopened and ordered the suspension of the employees responsible.

🤝 He also personally interacted with people shivering outside and ensured they received immediate relief.

👏 This is what accountability in public service looks like — listening to citizens, accepting responsibility and taking action without delay.

A government facility is meaningful only when it reaches the people it was created to serve.

🌿 In the biting cold of Damoh, one officer's actions brought a message of warmth, empathy and humane governance.
