There is something insidious about #VictoriaBC Councillor Matt Dell’s repeated statement he is “the representative of families” on council.

It is a very narrow & exclusive view. It also appears to elevate a specific group over another.

I prefer this definition:

A family is a group of two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live together; all such related persons are considered as members of one family.

It’s inclusive.

I know many families. Their wishes of a better city are no less than any other.

As to, what I believe Dell advances in his statement; if an area of the city is safe for Children, then it’s safe for everyone.

It doesn’t mean it’s accessible for all (we have a long way to go on that front), but it is a step closer for a more inclusive city. #yyjpoli

@DaveThompsonVIC I question the police decision to release data to some councillors, but not to the public, and no evidence of their request to keep it in camera has been forwarded. My point is that in camera rules allow sharing with one another and you chose not to at a time the info was needed.
