@ShazDrama @nohandsup @GCSE_Macbeth@HeadofEnglish Don’t you? … we do, both as part of the gcse English (NEA) - surely everyone does that, and as co curricular
@Henriettahold@RogersHistory One of my English a level students went on to get a degree in creative writing. Is now working for local government, having taken a year off to travel around the world. Now age 27 and earning £60k. Where’s the incentive?
@pjcboro@Miss_Snuffy Depends why you want a degree. For most people it’s the last proper chance to study a subject about which they’re passionate / English literature / classics / drama / archaeology etc. we shouldn’t take that away from people. Learning shouldn’t just be about work
@edujdw@tombennett71 Hard no from me. Did my spell in uniform as a student. At 58 I wouldn’t be prepared to do it again. This teacher of a shortage subject would quit I’m afraid.
@amymayforrester Yep. We had the same. In fact the (faulty) controller had tripped out all the electrics and taken the freezer and all it’s contents with it. Lovely welcome home. A week later and we’re still without hot water. Insurance have quoted us a month 😂
@rebeccapsych101@CensoredHead As a secondary teacher, we don’t do ourselves any favours calling our non contact time ‘free periods’ - although I do it myself. It’s our PPA time. Same as primary.
@JohnMamakj @RogersHistory You do know that these free periods are our PPA though? Same as you? It’s the same 10%. We do the situation an injustice by calling them ‘free’. They’re PPA
@TeacherBusy I was a late to teaching, so did actually do my dream job first - for 20 years, and it didn’t need A levels. Was a ballroom and Latin dance teacher. I think it’s always tempting to look back at other routes though. I always fancy antique restoration now - something solitary
@VHutchins75@LeShuttle Yep. Back to ferries for me. Only did Eurotunnel because of the dogs but they’ve doubled their price and the last 6 journeys with them have been hell. Their communication to their customers is awful
@VHutchins75@LeShuttle Just have tried to keep it all quite light hearted with her. Fortunately the dogs are old too and have just slept. We’ve boarded now. But it isn’t moving yet. We were part of the Dover chaos on the outward journey too 🤷♂️. Not a great advert
@VHutchins75@LeShuttle Same. We started our journey at 5.49 this morning. 3 dogs and my elderly disabled mum. This isn’t fun. And we’ve been misled throughout. Keep giving us new fictitious time slots
