Even the idea of having to live according to some ultimate system of righteousness or wickedness suggests that I’m not truly in control of my own life. As human beings, we spend most of our lives somewhere in the middle not completely righteous, not completely wicked, but simply trying to live, learn, love, make mistakes and understand our existence.
So what is the point of living if at the end of it all, we are told there is a toll we must pay simply for having lived?
It feels like three systems operating together, all claiming authority over our existence, while we all suffer, struggle, love, lose, and experience life in remarkably similar ways.
And that makes me question everything.
What evidence do we actually have for anything beyond what humanity has created, documented, memorized, repeated, and eventually accepted as reality? How much of what we believe is truly known, and how much of it have we simply inherited and carried with us our entire lives because we were taught that it was real?
Maybe the deepest question isn’t whether we are righteous or wicked. Maybe it is whether we have ever been given the freedom to discover what is actually true for ourselves.
