Excel has 1.5 billion users worldwide.
But only a few know how to create & maintain spreadsheets.
Here are 12 Excel hacks that you shouldn't miss: ↓
1. Familiarize yourself with keyboard shortcuts to save time and effort.
2. Select all cells by clicking on the gray triangle in the top left corner of the spreadsheet.
3. To resize columns and rows, place your mouse on the line between two column markers, until you see a symbol that looks like two opposite-facing arrows.
4. To easily format numbers, select the column and use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl - Shift - $ to format to dollars, or Ctrl - Shift - % to format to percentages.
5. Use Command (or Ctrl on a PC) and the up arrow twice to go to the top of your spreadsheet.
6. To apply the same formatting to a new column, copy the cell with the desired formatting, select the new column, right-click, select "Paste Special" and then click the box for formats.
7. To insert multiple rows or columns, highlight the number of rows or columns you want to insert, right-click and select "Insert."
8. To make a copy of your worksheet, right-click on the tab for your worksheet at the bottom and select “Move or Copy,” then select the options for where you want your new sheet to be moved and where you want it to appear.
9. To embed an Excel spreadsheet in Word, select and copy the portion of your spreadsheet that you want to embed, head to Word, select “Paste” and “Paste Special,” select the option for “Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object,” select the option for “Paste Link,” and click “OK.”
10. To find and replace values, highlight the cells you want to search and hit Ctrl + F, enter the term you want to find and replace, and click “OK.”
11. To view two worksheets side-by-side, click “Window” and then select “New Window,” or go to “View” in the Excel ribbon and then select “New Window.”
12. To copy-paste formulas without changing references, select the cells you want to copy, go to Home –> Number, select Text, press F2, hold the Control key and hit Enter, copy the cells, go to the destination cell and paste, change the format from Text to General, press F2 and hit Control + Enter.
