I saw the sun fall
on the southside of all things.
God’s ray dragged its legs
beyond the huts,
where I found the place
I couldn’t find.
Cougars and ticks
watched me wander.
I’m a buffet of
innards,
blood cocktail,
and navel gazing.
We all want
a body to rest in.
You love like a tongue
saying orange
in a new language.
You tie your horse
to a one-way rocket
targeting insurgents.
You guide your slugs
with an ancient flute
to the salt mines.
