Glenn Maxwell’s 201* (128), hands down!
I watched that match at Wankhede, and every neutral fan was backing Afghanistan when Australia were 91/7.
Then slowly Maxwell got going and the entire crowd switched sides from Afghanistan to Australia. The final straw was when Maxwell battled cramps and still got up to bat.
No going back after that. It is the greatest ODI innings ever without a doubt.
The first-ever double century in the second innings of an ODI, that too while chasing a target below 300. I’ve never witnessed anything like it, and honestly, I don’t think we ever will again. 🤯
🗣️ Lando Norris: “Es simplemente horrible. Demuestra que no deberíamos tener nada de eso en la parte electrónica.”
Creo que no hace falta agregar demasiado.
Hoy un fallo de software dejó autos sin respuesta al acelerador y obligó a detener el procedimiento para instalar un parche en los equipos. No lo digo yo: los pilotos están empezando a decirlo cada vez más fuerte.
I don’t even fucking like Ginnivan or hawthorn (or fucking Fremantle) but Jesus fucking Christ at least pretend you’re running a legitimate sporting competition you dipshit fuckheads
@joshstifter Something About Mary.
Saw a preview screening back in the day and knew zero about what I was walking into. Have never laughed so hard in my life.
@isaiahthomas Hit up Southeast Melbourne Phoenix! You’ll love living here, IT, and can enjoy a rivalry with old foes across town, Ingles and Cole Anthony.
Plus you’ve done your best work wearing green ☘️
@Spursy0e 7 & 8 had to slog though an extra game when, theoretically, they had already qualified. Unfair. Purely a cash grab from the AFL. If they don't want a bye then simply play on after the final H&A round. The season should be survival of the fittest not come one come all!
The Essendon coaching decision is bigger than one coaching appointment.
This club is at a crossroads, and the board needs to understand the mood of its members and supporters.
For 22 years, Essendon fans have put up with mediocrity. We’ve watched rebuild after rebuild, coaching change after coaching change, promises of a brighter future, only to end up back where we started.
And now, when this football club is arguably at rock bottom, there is a very clear message coming from a large section of the supporter base:
We want James Hird.
That isn’t simply blind nostalgia. It isn’t about living in the past. It’s about recognising that Essendon desperately needs someone who understands the football club, understands what the jumper means and can reconnect the players, members and supporters.
Hird is one of the few people who genuinely understands what Essendon is supposed to feel like.
The board needs to stop making decisions based purely on what looks safest on paper. Safe hasn’t worked for 22 years.
And if they ignore the overwhelming sentiment of their own members, they need to be prepared for the consequences.
People are already frustrated. People are already disengaged. Memberships are not guaranteed. Sponsorships are not guaranteed. Crowds are not guaranteed. The patience of supporters is certainly not guaranteed.
You cannot continually ask people to hand over their money, buy memberships, turn up every week and support the club through failure and then ignore them when they finally tell you what they want.
This is bigger than Hird.
It’s about whether the board understands the supporters.
Whether they understand the culture.
Whether they understand how badly this club needs belief again.
Essendon doesn’t need another appointment designed to keep everyone comfortable.
It needs someone who can walk through the front door and immediately make people believe again.
22 years is enough.
The supporters have endured enough.
The club is at rock bottom.
If James Hird is the person who can reconnect Essendon with its identity and give this club belief again, then stop overthinking it.
Give the members what they’re asking for. Give Hird the opportunity.
Because if the board gets this decision wrong again, they shouldn’t be surprised when the supporters finally say:
Enough is enough. @Andrew12Welsh@essendonfc
