New this morning: After a $3 million donation from Colts owner Jim Irsay, Indiana University will launch a new research institute with designs on it becoming the leading center in the nation for addressing mental health concerns and the stigmas associated with them.
There’s something almost comical about a celebrity standing on a red carpet in Cannes in a designer ballgown lecturing ordinary people about politics and morality
This doesn’t bring people together, solve problems, or help anyone
It’s performative activism from a Hollywood celebrity living in a completely different reality than most Americans and the public is increasingly tuning it out
New Yorkers who came tonight to Gracie Mansion protesting Zohran Mamdani discovered that Mamdani has a buffer zone near his house.
Let that sink in: the mayor who used his veto power to prevent Jewish schools from having buffer zones against Nazis protesting at their doorstep, has a buffer zone against New Yorkers that are persisting him.
Marc Andreessen says Michael Ovitz crushed Hollywood with a 7am meeting and 20 Jaguars.
When Ovitz founded Creative Artists Agency in 1975, the talent business was 90 years old.
Every agency ran the same way.
Staff meetings started at 9am.
At 10am, agents called their own clients with the day's casting news.
Ovitz did one thing differently.
He moved CAA's staff meeting to 7am.
By 8am, his agents were already on the phone.
By 9am, the rest of Hollywood was sitting down for coffee.
CAA had already called every other agency's clients.
Andreessen's reconstruction of the call:
You're Paul Newman. Your agent of 20 years calls at 11am about a role.
"The guys at CAA called me about that three hours ago."
Your agent: "They don't represent you."
You: "Yeah, isn't it great?"
Then there was the phalanx.
Twenty agents would arrive at every premiere. Identical Armani suits. White shirts from Sulka in Beverly Hills.
Twenty Jaguars in the parking lot, plates running CAA-1 through CAA-20.
The 90-year-old agency model never recovered.

How is getting $8 billion from State coffers and $2.3 billion from deferring pension payments bringing a budget down to zero?
The same NYC taxpayers that pay the bulk of NYC taxes are paying the $8 billion of state taxes that are funding the budget gap.
This budget ‘fix’ is robbing Peter to pay Paul and it didn’t work out well for either of them.
Breaking news: After a year-long investigation, the Justice Department concluded the Yale School of Medicine discriminated based on race in its admissions, favoring Black and Hispanic applicants over White and Asian ones. https://t.co/kdwDQK94K2
Adam McKay says "no group is worse" for America and its politics than "white liberals":
“We are being hit with the high-grade marketing and no group is worse than white liberals. I mean, they are the worst. I’ve tried to talk to them about climate, they are so smug and captured. And it boils down to privilege. I mean, when you talk to white moneyed liberals, they’re getting a lot from this broken system.”

I’d rather see brooks win the Masters since he’s already won three PGAs, but I do think he will play well at Aronimink, a great classic course (as are so many in Philly a great area for golf).
