This feels a lot like a soft trade request. But one where both sides are amicably splitting and open to deals that help both the team’s future and Leonard’s want to compete.

Leonard essentially telling LA brass, “I don’t want to be here, but… because you’ve been so good to me, we can leverage it by saying I’m open to staying and you’re open to keeping me so that you guys get offers that are actually high value.”

He is a 6-foot-7 forward out of Northwestern who averaged 23.0 PTS and 6.2 rebounds last season.

Martinelli led the Big Ten in scoring each of the last two seasons.
