Will probably not tweet much about this topic again, if at all, but will dump my thoughts on BIP-110 one time before this all comes to a head the next 2 months.

Warning that any tribalism/hatred will get blocked immediately. We're all on the same team, please don't forget this.

First, regardless of your side, I don't think this is nearly as existential of a debate as the 2017 fork wars. Just because the summer/fall 2026 culture of bitcoin users may happen be more or less aligned with past years does not mean we are forever doomed or that the project is dead/irrecoverable.

You can laugh, or call me naive, but I truly, deeply believe in fix the money, fix the world. I think conservatively ~50-70% of all problems in the world can be directly linked to central banking and I see only one legitimate practical solution to fixing this before it kills off our species into a premature extinction. Bitcoin means a LOT to me.

I think it's EXTREMELY important that the community, node-runners, miners and all other network participants uphold a culture of maintaining bitcoin's unique and irreproducible monetary characteristics. I could be wrong, but I would bet HEAVILY against us ever having another legitimate shot at making a solution like this work. We really cannot afford to waste bitcoin's immaculate conception.

Like @JeffBooth , I like to caveat all of the inevitability I treat bitcoin with, with "IF it remains decentralized and secure..."

The only physically possibly threat that I see to this "if" is something causing active bitcoin nodes to start to decrease.

Allowing self-admitted spammers and attackers to force nodes into becoming free cloud-storage hubs of wizard JPEGs and lady gaga songs, instead of the easy-to-maintain guardians of the species-saving network they ought to be, is obviously VERY threatening to this.

I support BIP 110 because I think the utmost goal for all of us with regards to protocol changes ought to be decentralization and ease of running a node.

We made a mistake with taproot (I was wrong to vocally champion this 7 years ago and regret doing so). We have uncovered an unkown unkown from this update that was hard to forecast, but has a very threatening impact.

But we can fix it.

I support BIP-110 because I believe it is important, the right thing to do, and good for Bitcoin.

Habitual marijuana use is not good in the same way that habitual alcohol use is not good.

When I got to the market today to visit Estela, she had no idea what was going on. I coordinated this with her daughter and she wanted it to be a surprise for her mom.

We explained to her what we were doing, showed her the tweet, how many views it already had, and her interview. She was really excited to see the interview (this is a clip from an upcoming documentary).

Finally, we asked her to open her Bitcoin wallet. There were millions of sats waiting for her. We explained these were donations from fellow Bitcoiners from every corner of the Earth.

Everyone broke into tears, none of us could believe the outpouring of support.

After a brief moment, Estela immediately started talking about the best uses for the money. Interestingly, none of them involved a structure for her to live in. She wanted to build things for the community.

Her daughter quickly reminded her that maybe she needs a roof over her head with the rainy season coming.

Estela replied that yes, while it will be nice to have a roof over her head tomorrow, she has quite enjoyed sleeping in a hammock at the beach. She will rebuild her modest home, and use whatever's left to give back to the community she cares about so much.

Don't let anyone tell you Bitcoin doesn't have a use case. It's right here. Bitcoin is a force for good. Bitcoiners are a force for good.
