A bit late for #ScreenshotSaturday, but here's what I've been working on!
Open Sosaria is an engine reimplementation of the original Ultima (1981, Apple II). Right now I'm deep into space exploration systems and 6502 disassembly. I just finished implementing star rendering.

You can now travel between star systems in Open Sosaria! 🌌✨

🚀 Porting Ultima has been smooth sailing so far, almost everything is in Applesoft BASIC.
But now I’ve reached the Merlin assembly routines 🔥
Time to brush up on my 6502 wizardry 😅

Halfway through the space implementation on Open Sosaria (Ultima I engine reimplementation)! 🚀
You can now travel to and from space, switch spaceships, and more. Next up: first-person combat and hyperjumps.

I saw a tweet a while ago about developing retro games *inside* actual retro environments (like Windows 95) for maximum authenticity, then compiling them on modern systems.
Well... I tested that.
A simple spinning triangle written in Windows 95 using Visual C++ 6.0 + OpenGL 1.1.
Zero code changes. Compiled and runs perfectly on Windows 10/11 with Visual Studio 2026.
Reject modernity. Return to Windows 95. 🟦🔺

I'm glad that we got Doom 95, but I always wished they would have created a MoM 95. I'm not going back to Win 9x now, but my Master of Magic remake is running on a Windows XP VM.
@nesh I feel like even 100 years could pass and people still won’t call this retro. I remember hearing the exact same thing back in the mid-2000s, when the ’80s were only about 20 years away and the ’90s were just 10.
There are more ways to die in space than anywhere else in #Ultima.
The funny part is that if you die in space, Lord British won’t revive you. In the original Apple II version, the game would just soft-lock in an infinite loop and you’d have to force-shut down the computer.
Wondering if I should keep that “permadeath in space” behavior in Open Sosaria (minus the PC force shutdown, obviously) or add a small QoL option to let players revive somehow.

The Colombian peso is so devalued in @GameMakerEngine's mind that a $100 license now costs the same as a full university tuition 😅
Does it come with company shares too? 📈
(Pretty sure it’s a regional bug lol)
