Camp Beer Co. "Tropic Thunder" Mango Guava Sour 🍻

Very rarely are we privileged to experience true cinematic genius: The Godfather, The Matrix, The Dark Knight, and, of course, Mean Girls. Among this handful of masterpieces stands one so daring, so bold, so unapologetically offensive that, 17 years after its release, it unquestionably could not be made today: Tropic Thunder 🪖🌴

The film is a brilliant satire of Hollywood's self-centered nature and its pretentious actors in pursuit of unlocking the artistry of their craft. From a magnificently executed portrayal of a method actor in "blackface" to the equally brilliant introduction of "Simple Jack," the fictional special-needs character who forms the basis for a powerful understory of redemption—it's magnificent!

Sadly, political correctness has caused the lessons of this movie to be forgotten. Just this week, following a fatal home invasion, York Regional Police instructed the public that, “The best defense [against a home invader] is to comply.” They went, as Kirk Lazarus would say, "full retard—never go full retard."

I drink to never going full retard and to being able to say "retard" again! In my cup is a fruity sour, usually unenjoyable, but this one isn't bad. Tropical and sour in taste, it’s honest about what it is, at least. Beyond that, I have little to add; much like Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), I don’t drink the beer—the beer drinks me.
