Laws need to be clear. The prohibited concepts law conflicts with the state’s own academic standards and curriculum, which creates unfair risks to Tennessee teachers using state-approved materials. https://t.co/blDz0J87ZW
Teaching should not be a life-threatening profession.
Educators should not need to be armed to feel safe in the classroom.
We must do more.
I continue to call on Congress to pass common-sense gun safety laws to protect our kids and our teachers.
These folks claiming that all students must succeed in the exact same way is as stupid as telling every basketball player they have to dunk.
There are lots of ways to score two points. Figuring out what works for each player is the job of the coach.
Same with teaching.
I was at a school where anywhere from a third to half of the teacher's turned over each year. As far as I knew no one even questioned the administrators why this was happening. In the grand scheme of things, treatment of staff is a low priority.
@MiguelGGG12@matthewkockx@WKRN And also- can't be targeted?? Puts doubt in a shooter?? What are we, the vanguard? Are you really envisioning a situation where teachers are expected to be the frontline targets for shooters?
@MiguelGGG12@matthewkockx@WKRN You think there's no teacher anywhere in Tennessee who needs mental help? Who has a bad temper? Who's going through a rough time in their life and might make bad decisions? We can't even trust all cops with guns, let alone teachers. 2/2
@MiguelGGG12@matthewkockx@WKRN Obfuscating stupidity is an unflattering look- and that's exactly my point. You don't know me or anything about me, but under this law me and thousands of other strangers will be ENCOURAGED to carry a gun around your kids. Do you trust us all? 1/2
If we have to lose, at least we lost to a worthy opponent. 👏 Congrats @SiegelMiddle for taking 1st in the bowling singles! The Creek will see you next week for the team championships!
