In Uganda, heavy traffic often requires police officers to step in and manually direct vehicles at busy intersections.

@UCUniversity Computer Science students Ainomugisha Faith and Mugenyi Nathaniel have developed an innovative solution to automate this process! Their smart traffic light system uses computer vision to capture the traffic officer's hand gestures in real-time. When the officer signals "stop" or "go," the camera detects the movement and automatically triggers the traffic lights accordingly.

This project is a perfect example of how Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering can solve real-world infrastructure challenges.
