Well, I guess this is what's bringing me out of my self-imposed Twitter exile.
For the longest time, I wasn't a Reylo shipper. I wasn't an anti-Reylo, I just didn't particularly care either way. (1/13)
@galatians_4_6 The fact that a fictitious quote has become a copypasta posted by people incapable of forming a new argument would have horrified Tolkien.
@galatians_4_6 The ironic thing is that Tolkien never said that quote. It's certainly a sentiment that is expressed in his stories but those specific words never left his lips.
I honestly think Reylo was by far the most compelling avenue these characters could have taken. This scene is a very strong, intimate moment and their connection is by far the most fascinating aspect of this trilogy.
Again, an utter shame TROS does nothing interesting with it.
Luke Skywalker did not have an attachment to Darth Vader. He showed his father only pure compassion.
Luke wanted to redeem Vader, but he also accepted events as they came; "Then my father is truly dead."
He was ready to let go of Vader, and even sacrifice his own life; "Soon I'll be dead. And you with me."
The idea that "Luke's attachment saved the galaxy" is a common misunderstanding of Return of the Jedi.
Confirmed from two pretty high up people, the Expanded Universe was stopped BEFORE the Disney buyout. This is no gotcha, I'm an EU fan above all else, but very interesting for sure! Thanks to @JacobKenne92848 for asking again.
@StarWarsOnly2 We don't need context for The Godfather, we don't need context for Citizen Kane, and we don't need context for Star Wars. Maybe it helps us appreciate them more but they still stand alone as masterpieces
@StarWarsOnly2 I don't think the context of when they came out and what they did is necessary, Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back aren't just the best of the series, they're some of the best movies ever made.
Everyone is giving the wrong reasons for why this sucks. It sucks because Darth Maul is a non-character. He's a guy with horns who has no interior goals or desires. Why is he here? Why are they fighting? None of this matters, and it's not about anything
That's a pretty strong, and, sadly, wrong, opinion on Andor. Having conversed with everyone from George, to my producing partner, the late, great Gary Kurtz, to the best man at my wedding, John Knoll, who created the original story for Rogue One, about what Star Wars "is" or "isn't", I can tell you that you're in basic disagreement with all of those people. Did George and Gary disagree about the direction Star Wars should take when making Empire? Sure. George believed, and maintained that is was just supposed to be "fun"... and, yes, basically, for 12-year-olds. But 12-year-olds can handle more adult content, and 12-year-olds also grow up. If you want only Star Wars content that pleases 12-year-olds... You're basically asking your audience to REMAIN 12 YEARS OLD. If Gary and my old friend Irvin Kershner had accept that as the golden rule... We wouldn't have gotten Empire... And, very likely, anything AFTER it.
I didn't expect all of this reminiscing, but it's deeply appreciated. I think the heyday of the channel was about 10 years ago. Dialed it back. Family. Life. Career. Priorities. To see all of these comments over the past few days has been overwhelming. Good times. Great memories.
I started this goofy YouTube channel nearly 15 years ago. Ranting about wanting an official release of the theatrical cut of Star Wars. It's been my number one want.
It feels unreal to see this announcement
Thanks to those who have been on this journey with me since 2011 🤙
Making the opening sequence to a new Star Wars trilogy extremely CGI heavy would’ve honestly made the fanbase so angry back in 2015.
So much time has passed that I fear people have forgotten that an “over-reliance on CGI” was one of the biggest complaints from the Prequel Trilogy.
Rian Johnson says he’s heard about THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO and would love to see the movie.
“I wanna see Adam in another Star Wars movie, man.”
